WTF IS GOING ON?
ANOTHER SUSPECTED MURDERER WALKED RIGHT OUT THE DOOR

[Image: article-2319677-199D3170000005DC-217_306x387.jpg]

Over a year after he was accidentally released from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, a murder suspect has been apprehended by authorities in Mexico, reports CBS Los Angeles.

Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez said 33-year-old Johnny Mata (pictured above) was recaptured Wednesday and placed back into the Los Angeles County jail system.

According to the station, a clerical error led to Mata's release from the department's Inmate Reception Center on April 3, 2013.

Mata was wanted for the Dec. 24, 2010, murder of 43-year-old David Deanda in Baldwin Park, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department said.
He is accused of walking up to a group in the park and firing multiple shots in what has been described as a gang-related shooting.

"Mata's release should not have occurred because a murder charge had been filed by the District Attorney and a processing clerk had not yet entered it as a 'hold' on inmate Mata," spokesperson Nicole Nishida told the station last May.

After officials determined that the suspect had fled to Mexico, American and Mexican authorities joined forces to track him down, the station reports.

Mata is currently being held on roughly $2 million bail.

TAKE THIS JOB AND SHOVE IT...

PINE BLUFF, Ark. - A convicted murderer serving a 240-month sentence at the Arkansas Department of Corrections' Pine Bluff Unit reportedly walked away from his work assignment Saturday evening.

Shea Wilson with ADC said Timothy Buffington, 47 (pictured above), is said to be 5'6" and about 182 pounds, with a scar on his upper left arm and his right wrist.

Buffington had been considered a trusty inmate. Wilson said he had no previous record of escapes in 15 years behind bars.

He is said to have shot his ex-wife Rhonda Combs in the head with a rifle while she sat in her boyfriend's truck in Booneville in July of 1998. Combs and Buffington had been in a custody dispute over their two children. According to Wilson, he was admitted to ADC on March 12, 1999.

Preliminary investigation released by ADC on Tuesday shows that Buffington broken into a safe room that Saturday at a house located on prison grounds and obtained a shotgun. According to Wilson, the door was dead-bolted, but he managed to kick the doorframe out.

She said Buffington was doing yard and janitorial work at the house. Jefferson County Sheriff's Official officials told THV11 on Sunday night that they believed he was armed with a backpack of ammo in addition to the shotgun.

According to Wilson, he confronted a woman who lives at the home, and attempted to have her drive him off the prison grounds, but she was able to get away.

INDEPENDENCE DAY, INDEED -- FREEDOM, HERE I COME!

Winona police confirmed to FOX 4 that suspected murderer Jason McClurg was taken back into custody on Sunday night, ending his escape that spanned nearly two full days.

The southeast Missouri murder suspect was on the loose after slipping away from a group of jail inmates watching fireworks. 35-year-old McClurg of Winona was with nine other inmates outside the Shannon County jail Friday night watching fireworks when he broke free.

Sheriff Steven Blunkall says the deputy who took the inmates outside has been fired, adding that it’s the second time an inmate has escaped on the deputy’s watch.

McClurg is accused of killing his wife on May 4 by mixing prescription medications with Kool-Aid and persuading her to drink it by saying their young child made it for her.

Did the local LE serve these murderers barbecued hot dogs and beer too?

At least this murderer is back in jail and Barney Fife is fired.

Wife-murdering Timothy Buffington (post 42) is still on the lam with the guns and ammo he stole from his cushy work program.

HIGH SCHOOL TRIPLE-MURDERER BREAKS FREE

Remember this remorseless little piece of shit, ^ TJ Lane -- wearing his "KILLER" t-shirt and flipping off the court at his trial for killing three fellow high school students in Ohio? The convicted murderer is serving three life sentences in Lima, Ohio.

Well, he and two other inmates escaped the medium-security Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution in Lima, Ohio early yesterday evening. Ohio police alerted residences, put protection on the homes of his victims' families, and put all officers and a helicopter on the hunt.

Lane was recaptured near the prison and returned to custody this morning. The other two escapees are also back in custody.

I'd like to know how a triple murderer like Lane and his inmate buddies (one of the other escapees was convicted of murdering a 5-year-old and the other for assault and robbery) had an opportunity to break free in the first place. Waiting for those details. These guys should be in hard-core max security prisons, IMO.

ETA: This may partially explain how the criminals found an opportunity to pull a runner: The Allen Oakwood Correctional Institution houses about 1,600 inmates guarded by 257 security personnel. A Correctional Institution Inspection Committee report in April said the facility was over capacity by 217 inmates. In addition, the number of inmate assaults on staff increased by 60.7% last year compared with 2012.

He is wanted for the Jan. 21 abduction and murders of Doyle Chumney, 88, and Lillian Chumney, 79 of Strasburg, Ohio, according to the FBI and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office.

The couple's home had been ransacked, the FBI said in a statement. Their vehicle was later discovered in a rural area, burned and with their skeletal remains inside.

A second man, Jeffery Stewart, 21, has been arrested in connection with the Chumney murders and has implicated Clark, the sheriff's office said on its Facebook page.

Clark, who is white, at least 6-feet, 3-inches (1.9 m) tall and weighs 311 pounds (141 kg), was traveling with Jeffrey Caley Jr., 28, and his girlfriend Tabatha Marie Hazel, 27, the FBI said. All three have been identified in surveillance video at robberies at gas stations in West Virginia and Georgia and a 7-Eleven in South Carolina, the statement said.

They have displayed a sawed-off shotgun and a pistol, and were last seen in a green Dodge Caravan with Ohio plates.

The FBI has offered a $20k reward for information leading to arrest(s). I hope the pieces of shit are caught soon.

^ Clark has been apprehended and charged with murder.

He allegedly abducted the elderly couple during a robbery, shot them, and then set them and their car on fire on a country road.

RIP ^Doyle and Lilian Chumney

Armed robber, Jeffrey Caley Jr., 28, escaped police and is still on the run. His girlfriend Tabatha Marie Hazel, 27, however was apprehended along with Clark.

It's unclear what led to the apprehensions and if anyone will be collecting the reward money.

Escape from New York -- Another Prison Break

More convicted murderers on the road... They used power tools to drill their way out. Where the hell was the security?

Two convicted murderers who used power tools in an elaborate escape from a New York prison "definitely had help," Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Monday morning.

"I don’t believe they could have acquired the equipment that they needed to do this without help," Cuomo said on the "Today" show.

^ Richard Matt, 48, and David Sweat, 34, were discovered missing from their beds at the maximum-security Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

The two men, who were in adjoining cells, drilled holes in walls to break out of them. They then went through a series of catwalks and tunnels, breaking through steel to clear prison grounds and escaping through a manhole on a nearby street, officials said.

They used clothing to make it look like they were in their beds and left the below-pictured yellow note with a smiley face and the words "have a nice day" on a steam pipe.

"They are truly dangerous, desperate men," Cuomo said. "They could be anywhere, given this period of time."

The New York Post reports that a female prison worker was interrogated Sunday in connection to the case. The report suggests that the woman may have been wooed as an accomplice by Matt, who, according to an unnamed source, "has a way with the ladies."

A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest.

All are pretty scared and locking up tight.

I don't blame your friends for being concerned Six.

Richard Matt and David Sweat are convicted killers; Matt with no parole possibility until 2032 and Sweat with no parole possibility at all. They have little to nothing to lose if they commit more crimes on the run.

Having all these prison-break stories in one thread has provided me a new perspective -- it happens more frequently than I'd previously imagined.

The New York prison from which Matt and Sweat escaped is ^ Clinton Correctional Facility. It's a MAXIMUM SECURITY STATE PRISON, for Christ's sake -- the largest in the state and reserved for the most hardened criminals.

And still, these guys managed to pull a modern-day Andy Dufresne. Some heads should roll at that prison. It's insane that these guys were able to use power tools without detection for a couple of days and drill a path back into society.

The prison is about 5 hours drive from NYC and only 25 minutes from the Canadian border. They had a head-start and help on the inside and outside, IMO. I wonder if they're in Canada, eh?

I'm just getting a chance to read up on the details of the New York prison break. It just gets more disturbing.

Richard Matt ^ escaped from a jail back in 1986.

Then, he killed and dismembered his boss back in 1997 and fled to Mexico.

He eventually killed an American man at a bar and served several years in Mexican prison before being brought back to the U.S. in 2007 to stand trial in Niagara County, where he was convicted of killing his boss.

The detective who worked the murder case, DiBernardi, offered a sentiment echoed by others in law enforcement: “He is the most vicious, evil person I’ve ever come across in 38 years as a police officer.”

Now, he's roaming around free, possibly with his murdering pal. I hope these guys are apprehended soon, but I'm not betting on it.

Could be; the double murderer and the cop killer seem to have planned their escape carefully.

This is the prison employee who police suspect may have aided Matt and Sweat to break out.

^ 51-year-old married inmate work assignment supervisor Joyce Mitchell.

According to a New York Daily News account of their prison life, the two plotted their elaborate escape from the tailoring workshop where Mitchell was posted. The police appear to be investigating whether Mitchell was seduced by Matt.

Retired detective David Bentley worked the case against Matt in 1997. He told reporters, 'When [Matt's] cleaned up, he's very handsome and, in all frankness, very well endowed. He gets girlfriends any place he goes.'

Police are trying to figure out if the convicts got the power tools to drill and tunnel their way to freedom from Mitchell, another prison employee, or outside contractors.

^ The inmates left a note with a crudely drawn Asian caricature smiley face, reading 'Have a nice day', on one of the tunnels they cut through during the escape.

They exited through a manhole outside of the prison grounds.

You really have to want to break out of prison to seduce her.

I keed, I keed.

But holy shit, it had to make a lot of noise opening up that hollow pipe.

Nice jaunty touch with the racist post-it note though. That's called breaking out of prison with some xenophobic panache!

In many places along the river the distance from NY to Canada is this small. NY one side, Canada the other. They could have made it there before they were even missed. If that woman helped them she is in some deep shit and deservedly so.

I don't think there's anything strange about detective Bentley making a point of telling the press how well-endowed the killer is, Gunnar.

Anyway, detective Bentley also wrote the BOLO description for Richard Matt:

Be on the lookout for suspect Richard Matt fitting this description:
- Tall
- Dark
- Handsome
- Twinkle in the eyes
- Lovely smile
- Cute little mole on left ass cheek
- Hung like a god damn horse

The suspect is (muscly) armed and dangerous; do not approach. If you spot this man, call the private cell phone of David Bentley #555-555-MATT. 109

Not strange at all.

He missed his calling. He could have been the prison guard suspected of being romanced.
