dirtbag goes to trial in N.C.
John Edwards is accused of using more than $1 million in donations made towards his 2008 presidential campaign to cover up an affair with Rielle Hunter, whore.
The money was allegedly used to hide Hunter by paying her rent and living expenses, as well as stays at luxury hotels and trips on private jets.
In June 2011, Edwards was indicted by a North Carolina grand jury on six felony charges: four counts of collecting illegal campaign contributions, one count of making false statements and one count of conspiracy.
If he is found guilty of the charges, he faces up to 30 years behind bars and a $1.5 million fine.
Edwards denies any wrongdoing, claiming the money was a gift. His defense argues it was therefore not subject to campaign finance laws.
John Edwards's WHORE could appear at the former senator's criminal trial, lifting the lid on whether he funneled campaign funds into covering up the affair that destroyed his political career.
Rielle Hunter the woman at the heart of the sex scandal that forced the senator to stand down, is just one of the people close to the former presidential candidate named on proposed witness lists.
His eldest daughter Cate and staff members from his 2008 campaign, including the aide who originally claimed he was the father of the couple's daughter, are also named.
list released on Thursday evening, come after the start of jury selection for the Democrat's federal trial in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Edwards faces six counts related to nearly $1 million in hidden payments from two donors that were used to cover up his pregnant mistress as the married father sought the Oval Office.
Among the listed witnesses for the prosecution is his former campaign aide Andrew Young, who handled money for Hunter's care and falsely claimed paternity of Edwards' child, Frances Quinn.
Edwards, 58, claims that the money was used to protect his wife Elizabeth who died from cancer in 2010 and his three children Cate, 30, Emma Claire, 13 and Jack.

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — A federal judge in North Carolina has dismissed 47 potential jurors from the coming John Edwards trial, many because they said they couldn't fairly weigh evidence involving the former Democratic presidential candidate.
U.S. District Court Judge Catherine C. Eagles made her decisions Monday based on written questionnaires from 185 people summoned last week to the federal courthouse in Greensboro. Most of those dismissed indicated they had made up their minds about Edwards' guilt or innocence of alleged campaign-finance violations based on media reports. Others were dismissed because they had medical conditions or personal hardships.

Prosecutors on Monday described John Edwards as a "master manipulator," as both sides delivered opening arguments in the case examining whether Edwards' cover-up of his affair with Rielle Hunter was a federal crime.
The juicy trial began at a federal courthouse in North Carolina with high stakes. Edwards, one of the nation's most accomplished politicians before his 2008 fall from grace, faces a lengthy prison sentence if convicted -- it is still not clear whether the former trial lawyer will take the stand in his own defense.
Government attorneys argued Monday that Edwards, the former U.S. senator and Democratic presidential candidate, knew two wealthy contributors had provided the nearly $1 million to hide his pregnant mistress. They said the donations were tantamount to "campaign contributions" intended to preserve Edwards' "family man" image during his 2008 campaign.
But the defense argued the donations were merely "private money" intended to protect Edwards' family from embarrassment. Edwards' lawyers told jurors most of the money, which was handled by former campaign staffer Andrew Young, went toward building Young's new house in Chapel Hill, N.C.

John Edwards apparently didn't think too highly of his mistress.
According to testimony Tuesday from Edwards' former top confidante, the ex-senator didn't give himself great odds when he doubted that he was the father of Rielle Hunter's unborn child.
"He said that she was a crazy slut, and it was a one-in-three chance that it was his child," Young testified.
Whether or not those were the odds, Edwards made a bad bet. After denying for months that he was the father, even after he copped to the affair, Edwards has acknowledged paternity for their daughter who is now 4 years old.
Young's anecdote was just one of several titillating details that emerged during the second day of testimony in the high-profile Edwards trial. Young also described how Edwards' late wife Elizabeth learned of the affair. He said Elizabeth would answer her husband's cell phone without saying anything, allowing Hunter to start talking assuming she was having a private conversation with John.
Elizabeth later made her husband use a different phone, Young said. But Edwards evaded the attempt, telling Young to keep a "bat phone" on him. The phone was so Hunter could call Young and, when the coast was clear, Young could hand the phone to Edwards, Young testified.
In between the soap-opera-style details, Young continued to feed into the prosecution's case that Edwards helped arrange for nearly $1 million in donations to hide the affair and preserve his 2008 Democratic presidential bid.
Young testified that Edwards directed him to start giving money to Hunter in May 2007 after she threatened to go to the media and expose the affair. Young said he suggested asking Rachel 'Bunny' Mellon, an elderly heiress who had already given generously to Edwards' campaign.
He claimed that Edwards became frustrated when Young expressed discomfort with the arrangement, but Edwards insisted it was fine. He said Edwards insisted on discussing the donor checks in code because he said he couldn't be tied to the scheme in case he ever had to be sworn in as U.S. attorney general.

high-end whore...
and so is she.
wednesday
The John Edwards trial is quickly taking on the feel of a soap opera, as the prosecution's star witness returns to the stand Wednesday and continues to narrate the almost unbelievable drama that played out while Edwards tried to hide his affair.
Former aide Andrew Young, on the stand Tuesday, painted an unflattering portrait of both Edwards and mistress Rielle Hunter -- whom he described as demanding even as she was being amply provided for.
He described an elaborate scheme where heiress Rachel "Bunny" Mellon would funnel money to her interior decorator, who would then issue checks to Young and his wife. The Youngs provided Hunter with luxury accommodations, travel and even a BMW, according to the testimony.
Young also described lavish accommodations provided by a second wealthy donor, Fred Baron. He said Hunter was often unsatisfied and demanded upgrades. At one Fort Lauderdale hotel, she criticized her room because it lacked "good energy," Young said.

the dirty tale of a scumweasel.
Cheri and her husband Andrew Young
Testifying at John Edwards' campaign corruption trial, Cheri Young said she huddled around a phone in her Chapel Hill home with her husband, Andrew Young, and Edwards' pregnant mistress, Rielle Hunter.
Mrs Young, whose husband used to be Edwards' close aide, testified that the former presidential candidate told her that it was legal to use donor money to cover up his affair and his love child.
On the call, Edwards emphasized the need to preserve his campaign and keep the affair from his wife, Elizabeth, Cheri Young said in court on Monday.
It was a couple weeks before the 2008 Iowa caucuses, and two suspicious tabloid reporters had already tracked Hunter from a doctor's appointment to the Youngs' home where she was living.
Edwards made the plan sound 'as if it was for the good of the country,' Mrs Young said.
Asked by a prosecutor why she went along with it, Mrs Young put her hands together, pressed them to her chin and bowed her head as if in prayer.
As she began to weep, U.S. District Court Judge Catherine C. Eagles dismissed the jury to give her time to compose herself.

Poor Cheri Young; she was only being patriotic by helping to illegally apply campaign funds to try and deceive the public about a presidential hopeful. Bet she feels guilty about all of that money that she and her husband made off the tell-all book in 2010 too. Everyone involved in this story is corrupt and full of shit.

John Edwards' daughter left the courtroom crying during testimony on Wednesday about a confrontation between her father and deceased mother over the one-time presidential candidate's extra-marital affair.
Former Edwards aide Christina Reynolds was testifying about an argument Elizabeth Edwards had with her husband on the day in October 2007 that a tabloid published a story about his affair.
As Reynolds was beginning the account about what happened at the Raleigh airport, Edwards turned to his daughter Cate, who was seated in the front row.

Former US presidential candidate John Edwards' late wife ripped off her shirt and bra in a row with her husband over his affair, a court has heard.
Breast cancer sufferer Elizabeth Edwards also collapsed during the fight in an airport car park, a witness said.
Mr Edwards' daughter left the court in tears during the latest evidence in her father's campaign finance trial.
Staffer Ms Reynolds said that she, along with another woman, helped Mrs Edwards get to a bathroom and calmed her down, but Mrs Edwards went outside again to find her husband.
Ms Reynolds said Mrs Edwards had screamed: "You don't see me any more." Then she took off her shirt and bra, exposing herself to her husband in front of his staff, the court heard.
"He didn't have much of a reaction," Ms Reynolds said.
Mrs Edwards had gone through intense treatment for breast cancer before the incident took place. She died in 2010 after a long struggle with the disease.

Cheri Young is a twat. Period. I think her tears are a crock of shit & I don't for a moment believe she was as outraged & embarrassed as she proclaims. She's just one more ridiculous cow who is swayed by the thought of big money and isn't above doing whatever she has to in order to get it.

:( prison baby. prison. for the hurt and pain and lies and cheating and $$$$. die in prison.
Crying openly in court, a former campaign spokeswoman for John Edwards delivered emotional testimony about the former presidential candidate's late wife, suggesting that she died with emotional wounds left by her cheating husband.
Jennifer Palmieri, who remained close friends with Elizabeth Edwards until her death from breast cancer in December 2010, said she cut off communications with John Edwards after he ignored multiple appeals to tell the truth about his affair with campaign videographer Rielle Hunter.
"I believe that John was continuing to lie, that he was trying to drag me into that," Palmieri said. "And I just didn't want to be a part of it."
Palmieri sobbed during cross-examination by the defense, as she recalled a conversation with Elizabeth Edwards in the final days of her life.
"She expressed to me concern that when she and John decided to separate, she was concerned that when she died, there would not be a man around that loved her," Palmieri said.
Palmieri said she promised to be there for Edwards, but her dying friend continued to hold on to her feeling of loss.
Edwards is accused of using campaign donors to pay for the cover-up of his affair with Hunter during his failed bid for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008. He has pleaded not guilty to six counts related to campaign-finance violations and faces up to 30 years in prison and $1.5 million in fines if convicted on all counts.
During Palmieri's testimony, Edwards buried his head in his hands. His daughter, Cate Upham, who who has attended most of the trial and was present during the morning's session, was not in the courtroom at the time.

They are obviously not the jury I thought they were, the evidence was pretty solid and a guilty verdict should have been easy.
Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
