Elizabeth Warren is quickly overtaking worn out and stale Biden.  I'd be happy to vote for her.

She has a plan for everything! I feel like she addresses so much more than pretty much everyone at this point. I like Mayor Pete too but I don't think this is his time. Although, we are still many months away and I've learned anything can happen in this political climate.

There are currently 24 Democratic presidential candidates officially registered.

The 20 most qualified candidates, as measured by DNC criteria, will participate in the first set of primary debates on June 26^th and June 27^th. 

As noted upthread, yesterday the 20 candidates were announced (Gov. Steve Bullock, Rep. Seth Moulton, Mayor Wayne Messam, and former Gov. Mike Gravel didn't make the cut).

Today, the drawing to determine the debate line up for each of the two nights went down. 

Candidates were divided into two categories: those who polled above average of 2 per cent and those who polled below. 

The Democratic Party said it wanted to spread the frontrunners and lower-tier candidates out so there is no perception of a 'lesser' or 'junior' debate as there was in the 2016 Republican presidential primary, when a second debate night was organized for candidates not garnering as high poll numbers (and was commonly referred to as 'the kiddie table"). 

The random drawing then took place, pulling from each of the respective categories to create two separate groupings of 10, with the following results.

June 26 participants:  
Cory Booker, Elizabeth Warren, Beto O'Rourke, Amy Klobuchar, John Delaney, Tulsi Gabbard, Julian Castro, Tim Ryan, Bill de Blasio, and Jay Inslee.  

June 27 participants:  
Bernie Sanders, Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, Pete Buttigieg, Michael Bennet, Marianne Williamson, Eric Swalwell, Kirsten Gillibrand, Andrew Yang, and John Hickenlooper.

I kind of suspect many of the less likely candidates are using this to increase their visibility for future runs at the senate. Beto came close last time and I'd love to see Ted Cruz ousted.

Warren's really prepared and focused on how to get things done. That's increasing her support, for sure.

I just read that her rise in the polls has caused the Trump re-election campaign to shift some gears.

The reassessment of Warren, confirmed in conversations with more than a half-dozen Trump advisers, reflects the volatility of the massive Democratic primary and how the reelection campaign is reacting to it.

The Trump team — including the president himself — had been focused almost exclusively on Joe Biden to this point. But Warren’s rise now has them thinking she could pose a serious threat in a general election. Warren’s disciplined style, populist-infused speeches, and perceived ability to win over suburban female voters, Trump advisers concede, has raised concerns.

Campaign pollster John McLaughlin has sounded the alarm internally, stressing that Warren’s attacks on Trump threaten to undercut his support from the working-class voters who propelled him to the presidency.

“Although our own early published polls and internal polls discounted Elizabeth Warren, her recent momentum in May and June in national and early caucus and primary states into a strong second place to a flat Joe Biden is a cause for our campaign’s attention,” McLaughlin wrote in a text message to POLITICO.

“Sen. Warren’s attacks on President Trump’s policies need to be rebutted,” McLaughlin added. “We can’t just allow her to continue to attack the President in key states like Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and elsewhere.”

Biden will still receive a significant share of the campaign's attention. But Trump aides say they're less certain that he'll be their eventual opponent.

The reelection campaign first began taking note of Warren’s momentum several weeks ago, when polling showed her gaining substantially on Biden and Sanders. They were startled earlier this month when Tucker Carlson, a host on Trump-friendly Fox News, used the opening monologue of his show to heap praise on the liberal senator.

Warren’s populist economic agenda, Carlson said, “sounds like Donald Trump at his best.”

I know you watch Tucker regularly so as to have an informed view and are not being told what to think by Progressive talking heads, and so it strikes me by surprise that you would not know that he often holds opinions against Trump.

He also obviously and purposely sends up and mocks and much of this necessarily demands an over-exaggeration.
