...State police also disclosed Tuesday that sometime between 2:30-3 p.m. Monday they found the body of a man who had committed suicide in Barnet [Melissa's body was found in Barnet] at the intersection of Country Hill Road (also called Old Country Road) and Tripp Lane, about seven miles from where Jenkins’ body was found. Authorities said Bruce Grady, 52, of Bradford died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

...In addition to teaching at St. Johnsbury Academy, Jenkins waited tables four nights a week at The Creamery Restaurant in Daniville....

Interesting about the suicide although there's no known connection between the two at the moment.

Melissa was one busy woman - teaching (parent conferences, grading papers, etc.), coaching a basketball team, waitressing four nights a week.

WHAT THE HELL? WHY?

caledonianrecord
Police took Allen Prue, 30, and his wife Patricia Prue,33, into custody late Tuesday night in connection with the murder of Melissa Jenkins.
Both are being held at the Northeast Region Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury. Police plan a press conference to announce these developments at 10 a.m. today.
Allen Prue was an independent snow plow driver and a sub-contracted newspaper delivery person for the Caledonian-Record. He delivered newspapers to the Peacham, Groton area but did not service a route in the Goss Hollow area of Danville. He started with the paper in late January, 2012.
Police executed a search warrant at the the Prue residence, at 91 Old County Road in Waterford beginning at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday night. A mobile crime unit was parked outside of the home, which was designated a crime scene. Six troopers were involved in the warrant’s execution.
Vehicles were towed from the scene.
Around the same time Patricia Prue was being questioned at the state police barracks in St. Johnsbury.
She experienced a medical episode and was transported by ambulance to NVRH. She was listed in stable condition at 11 p.m. and returned to the barracks at approximately midnight. She entered the correctional facility at approximately 1 a.m.
Allen Prue was taken into custody around that time and was taken to the correctional facility.
Allen Prue completed his delivery route for the Caledonian Record on both Sunday and Monday nights. Route drivers reported, however, that the Prues arrived an hour late on Sunday night.

What the hell is right. I can't wait to hear what the motive is here. Melissa can't be too well off or she wouldn't be waiting tables four nights a week.

I wonder how large this guy's paper route is. The elderly woman Pat O'Hagan was abducted from her home in Sheffield - that's 18 miles north of St. Johnsbury (her body was found in a wooded area, off a hunting road off the main road). LE thought more than one person was involved. No known motives for anyone to kill her.

This link has a photo of the Prue's home.

The story says Allen Prue only started working delivering newspapers in January.

Guess they leave their christmas lights up all year round. Are they serial killers? Killing for the thrill of it?

Who knows? Possibly. Or maybe the motive's something as stupid as Melissa didn't tip the guy.

The Prues, who live in Waterford, will be arraigned later today in Vermont Superior Court in St. Johnsbury. Police said Allen Prue used to plow Jenkins' driveway.

(Bolding by me.)

I wonder if this murder is over something so trivial as Melissa not using his snow plow services any more, or over a dispute about the bill.

Could you imagine.... Smiley_emoticons_skeptisch what utter ridiculousness, how do the minds of these people work?
there really is no justifying it. So sad that a little boy has to grow up with his mummy, was witness to her being taken, he must have been so upset his mummy wasn't around poor baby. I am so glad that they did not harm the child.

Nice pics!

They sure look like a couple of winners (at least they look qualified to post at Mock).

That all being said, the victim stated that she was leaving that night to 'help someone out'. Maybe a ruse?

My guess is, she was planning on meeting these two. Was it a regularly scheduled meeting?, i.e., drug purchase/sale?

Hate to bring that subject up, but why would you be meeting up with these two, especially on a Sunday night? She knowingly went somewhere, so I don't think this is a chance encounter.

Allen Prue’s Mother: He didn’t commit crime 4min
A Vermont snow plow driver and his wife have pleaded not guilty to second degree murder charges in connection with the strangling of a prep school teacher whose 2-year-old son was found in his mother's idling car on a remote back road

Following the Wednesday court appearance, Allen Prue's mother, Donna Prue, says her son has never been in trouble with the law before and she has faith he didn't commit the crime.

UPDATE: Court documents say a VT snow plow driver and his wife lured a school teacher from her home by pretending their vehicle had broken down and they needed help, and then strangled her before throwing her body in a river. The only motive suggested in the court documents filed in the case against 30-year-old Allen Prue and his 33-year-old wife Patricia Prue, of Waterford, was that Allen Prue told police he wanted to "get a girl" on Sunday night.

According to court documents, Jenkins received a call from the couple asking her for help. Jenkins had told someone Prue had made her “uncomfortable in the past.”

The documents also say the pair allegedly strangled Jenkins in front of her two-year-old son. The documents also state the child demonstrated to authorities “what a man did to mommy.”

Dude must've been tired of delivering papers and plowing driveways. Decided it was time to go to prison.

this is so unbelievably tragic, that poor boy witnessed his mummy be killed and then was left all on his own, he must have been so scared. I hope he does not remember this as he gets older.
