I remember reading that John Wayne named James Garner as his pick for best actor in an interview -- pretty high praise.

I loved him in The Rockford Files.

RIP.
He was an 'everyman' as I saw someone write about him today.

So likeable in The Rockford Files.

Always seemed classy.

Jim Brady has died. I'm old enough that I have a vague memory of the day he was shot.

Who's got Joan Rivers? She in critical condition due to cardiac arrest.

Joan Rivers has died -

Melissa just issued a statement saying, "It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers."
May her plastic heart rest in peace.
Melissa and get mother were super close. I feel bad for her. Losing your mother sucks no matter how old they are or how full their life was.

It's a little scary that you can go in for a simple procedure & die! I'm so afraid of death. I hope I don't spend all night dwelling on this. Fucking hell. It's awful when I'm almost asleep and my brain suddenly screams, YOU'RE GOING TO DIE!
I'm probably in the minority, but I liked her.

Recent interview on Letterman.

I liked her too. Her snark was outstanding. It wouldn't be unusual for me to gasp & laugh at the same time when listening to her.

Ya know, I always thought I didn't like Joan Rivers, but now that she's gone, I think I will miss her. I guess I liked her all along, and didn't admit it to myself. It's kinda scary, one day you're fine, and the next you're history. She had dozens of serious many hours long procedures all her older life, and to check out on a simple procedure is just wrong! May she Rest In Peace.

(PS: A law suit will surely take place)

Well, she could be very mean & hurtful sometimes.

She crossed WAAAYYYY over the line a few times. I liked her best when she was making fun of herself like in the vid with Letterman.

I think she was brain-dead the whole time in ICU and her daughter couldn't let go...understandable. They were very close.
I had an appointment yesterday with my primary care dr. Her subspecialty is geriatric care and issues with the aging. I asked her what her opinion was on sending someone age 81 to a clinic for an outpatient procedure. She said it would depend on the patient and the procedure. But her feeling was to lean toward sending the person to a hospital for the procedure.
Of course, JR was not yet dead, and my Dr said that the problem may still have happened, but at least the patient would be closer to a trauma team.
