Fair enough, HotD.

Appreciate your candidness.

That's definitely a better reason to get married than that of some people that I know.

Maybe if I'd been forced to choose between making it legal or losing contact with someone that I loved altogether, I'd have tied the knot too.

What do you expect when you hook up with a Mexican?

Tequila sunrises and homemade tamales on Christmas. 70

I miss that.
Or you find out Dominic the Donkey has an STD and now hubby needs some anti-biotics following that real life nativity he participated in.

After decades of fighting for equality and the right to marry, a lot of battles were won by gay rights advocates in 2013; 2014 is expected to see an even larger increase in states legalizing same-sex marriage.

This was in today's news:

In just the past 12 months, legislatures, voters or courts in 11 states have allowed same-sex marriage. Legislatures passed bills in Washington, Maryland, Rhode Island, Delaware, Minnesota, Hawaii and Illinois; voters upheld those decisions in Washington and Maryland, and legalized same-sex marriage in Maine. The Supreme Court earlier this year ruled against California’s Proposition 8, which invalidated same-sex marriages.

At the same time, the court ruled the federal Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional, a move that judges in several states — New Jersey, New Mexico and Utah — have cited in declaring state bans on same-sex marriage unconstitutional.

Judges in 17 states are considering at least 31 cases seeking to allow gays and lesbians to marry, according to a private count kept by one LGBT group and shared with The Washington Post.

You are a glass half full gal HoTD. I like that. It just occurred to me he probably makes the best nachos in town too.

So there you have it, a mexican husband....it's worth the paperwork.
Even better, aussie. Two of my brother-in-laws are from Mexico.

I don't even have to sign up for the ball and chain to get the homemade tamales. 44

We don't do nachos much, though. When I'm with my family at Christmas, it's usually tamales, enchiladas, carnitas, carne asada, taquitos (those are for me mostly, I don't know why I love the damn things so much), chips, and the hottest homemade salsa possible - ongoing competition.

This year was a traditional American dinner here in the city, though. Different, but great company, good food and lots to drink. I was the designated driver. Home safely.

My turn now. Having a cocktail, or two. Life is good.
And we haven't even mentioned the Sangria's! The list is endless. How do I git me one of these critters?

hah Bitches!
Now I'm bummed that my husband isn't Mexican. I could go for some Huevos Rancheros and homemade hot salsa right now.

That does sound good.

It's the mother-in-laws that cook most of that holiday spread in my family.

The guys just eat and drink too much and then complain that they ate and drank too much (I sympathize today).

It's pretty heavy food and we all feel gorda afterwards, so we usually throw on our panchos and take a nice siesta - while the kids take swings at the pinata and peddle Chiclets goma on the corner.
I never say this very often but....I love you Big Sal. And in honor of your illegal husband I specifically bought a Margarita today. I have worked hard all week whilst every other bugger is off on holidays and I have earned this. True, it is not as good as what your Mexican husband would make but it still hit the spot. I had a Cosmopolitan or whatever Sarah Jessica Parker calls it afterwards, these buggers cost $16 each! And there was me complaining to the patients 6 weeks ago about paying $9 for a beer.

I don't know if I can stay friends with you Big Sal, I can't afford you. You are out of my price range.

Addit: I went and bought a bottle of Cointreau afterwards and have been consuming since posting and my mother drove. So I am not irresponsible. But we had a lovely dinner, thanks for asking. No mexican food though, sigh.

I don't love you, sally, but would probably enjoy having some huevos rancheros and a few Bloody Marys with you (if you whipped them up and weren't expecting a kidney or other organ in return).

So, Utah is interesting.

December 26, 2013 one of many same-sex wedding celebrations in Salt Lake City

Polygamy was ruled legal in the state by its Supreme Court week before last.

Then, hundreds of same-sex couples got married in Utah over the holiday, following the Utah Supreme Court's ruling earlier this week which struck down the state's attempt to undo the recent law legalizing same-sex marriage.

Now, state officials are planning to appeal that ruling and take the case to the US Supreme Court. I think they'll lose given that DOMA has been ruled unconstitutional (just like California anti-gay marriage activists lost the same argument with the US Supreme Court earlier this year).

State officials are likely planning to appeal the Utah Supreme Court's ruling in favor of polygamy to the federal court, too.

Back and forth...
I don't mean to pull rank on you HoTD, but I don't think Bloody Mary's are Mexican.
We'll put a pinch of cilantro in them, along with a dash of Paprika - all familial bases covered.
I don't know how you drink all that Cointreau, Aussie. It's so sweet. I have some in my liquor cabinet but the only thing I use it for is fruit salad. If I drank it straight I'd wake up in the morning sick as a dog. I'm not as much of an alcoholic as everyone thinks, I do like beer but the only liquor I can handle are bloody Mary's once in a while.

I don't even care for my Mexican husband's margaritas, those are even too sweet for me. He needs to just stick to making salsa and keeping the lawn nice.
Cointreau on its own is too sickly for me but in a Singapore Sling or Corpse reviver its ok.

I have my own gay cocktail bar in the dining room and a full drinks cabinet sometimes guests try and catch me out with an obscure one but so far I haven't been caught out yet.

Someone asked for a Golden Dream with a smug expression but sorry to disappoint you I've got galliano and some fresh cream! Must try harder!

I want to hang with that family for the day, drink with Sally all night and have Huevos for breakfast as the sun comes up
