They need cheap labor for the oil industry.

And building structures to house workers.

And tacos . . . ND has lousy Mexican food.

Don't you ever feel like a dumbass BH. You are a retired Flight Attendant, and you have been through some stuff in your life. Oral Roberts tried to hump your leg on a flight once. Sally can talk cryptically sometimes, it's not always as clear cut as her husband dropping dead, maybe she meant it in another way. We don't know.

Ignore F2 if she tries to take the speck out your eye when she has a log in her own.

Blowing-kisses

What in the fuck are you incoherently blabbering on about now, crazy lady? I haven't despecked anyones eye in here for quite a while.
Go have another drink...you're not quite where you need to be yet, entertainment wise, that is.

hah Don't even try it in Montana either. Taco Bell is better.

Why does this woman still have her job? Fire her junky ass.

A defiant Kentucky county clerk and her deputies will face a federal judge Thursday for continuing to reject same-sex couples' requests for marriage licenses invoking 'God's authority' despite a ruling by the US Supreme Court.

US District Judge David Bunning moved quickly Tuesday after a lesbian couple asked him to find Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis in contempt, but punish her only with fines, not jail time.

Davis emerged from her office early this morning after two couples were denied the licenses. She asked David Moore and David Ermold, who have been turned away four times, to leave. They refused, surrounded by reporters and cameras.

Ermold said: ‘We're not leaving until we have a license.’ Davis responded: ‘Then you're going to have a long day.’

Her supporters cheered from the back of the room: ‘Praise the Lord’ and ‘stand your ground.’

Joe Davis, Kim's husband, was also on hand at the Rowan County Courthouse to land hi support to the embattled clerk, telling reporters that his wife is 'standing for God' and compared her to the biblical figures Paul and Silas.

What's the over/under on her attending white power rallies as well as anti gay rallies?
I'm NOT saying she is right but in todays world I respect people that stand by their convictions.
My question: Why did the Supreme Court refuse to hear her appeal?

I remember a proclamation about "separate but equal" . . .

Maybe "gay" marriage ain't bulletproof.

She shouldn't.

She should quit if her personal beliefs prevent her from performing the job requirements. That would show conviction.

Her job is to issue licenses. Her government employer is required to issue marriage licenses to gay and straight couples.

I'd terminate her for insubordination, though I'm sure she'd file a civil suit.

Anyway I don't see anything admirable; just a self-important insubordinate zealot.

That's precisely what I see. Standing up for one's convictions in their private life is one thing, what this woman is doing is quite another. I'd never tolerate that from an employee and she'd be history.

There are lots of people in history who were self-important, insubordinate zealots.

Agreed. Standing behind your convictions is one thing. If you can't do your job because of your religious beliefs, find another job.

Well I can be a self important, insubordinate zealot but I'm not going to risk my job. She's a cow.

She's a cow in the bible belt, who was elected to the position.

It will work it's way out through the courts; maybe she will end up clerking dog licenses or something.

Well, as long as they aren't gay dogs.

Well, yeah -- everybody who ever lived is "in history".

That includes individuals who bucked the system to help affect progress and extend equal rights, along with those who bucked the system to fight against progress and keep intolerance/bigotry alive. It's my opinion that this Kim woman falls in the latter category.

Some of the buckers were self-important insubordinate zealots, and some were anything but. It's my opinion that this Kim woman falls in the former category.

If Kim wants to protest, violate the law, preach her religious beliefs and champion her convictions, no problem here. But, she should do it on her own dime, not that of her employer and the taxpayers. In my opinion.
If she quits, she's stupid.

Bye-bye benefits!

Unless she thinks she has a chance for a hostile workplace environment suit or some such nonsense.

Personally, I'm loving angry license seekers throwing hate speech at this woman of unfortunate appearance.

I love the free flowing tolerance and understanding from all parties.

It's really an inspiration for understanding divergent views and lifestyles.

Haters hate but tearful, angry gays make the best optic.

Much better than a middle-aged cow.

Well that's a nice way of being dismissive. Yes, HotD, everyone who ever lived is "in history". Thanks for cluing me in.

ETA: At this point, Davis is just upholding a fine Democrat legacy of denying civil rights to people. She is standing in the clerk house door, refusing admittance just like George Wallace did in Alabama to keep blacks out of his school. Why hasn't Obama just sent the Kentucky National Guard in to right this most heinous wrong? That's all it would take, and then this ugly chapter would be over.

Or the gay couples to just go to another county and get the license while Davis sends her appeals through the courts. I know, I know, it's not as much fun or as big of a spectacle.
