hah
That made me laugh too.

And it's not a bad idea...til the next time a gay couple applies for a license.

I'm picturing Davis locking herself in the clink every now and again, like Otis the drunk in Mayberry.
Speaking of Otis I've been watching the Andy Griffith series at night lately, The very first one was on 2 nights ago and they are doing them in a row. Ron Howard was great! And he looks about 4-5 years old. he was kicking criminals and throwing entire boxes of rice at weddings. hah

Then she is being true to her book of worship and accepting incarceration . . . as did many of the recorded faithful.

However . . . she gets baloney sammiches and and a juice box.

Directv is now carrying that show and a bunch of others from back in the day. It made me smile when I first heard the theme song as I was walking through. It's such innocent television compared to most of what is aired these days.

I would suggest everyone step back and rethink this. The vitriol I read in here reminds me of the reaction of the segregationists to a poor black woman standing up for her rights.

I say again, keep up the hate and you may not like the consequences. It is time to come together; dark times are coming.

You cannot compare that cow to Rosa Parks! Taz

Why? Because you believe only one is right?

The segregationists were equally outraged; time proved them wrong.

That woman was elected to do a job, it was her obligation to fulfill the duties she was elected for. Rosa Parks stood up for a basic human right. I don't see any similarities at all.
The segregationists were standing on states rights; their politicians were elected as well. They stood in opposition to a change in federal law that they disagreed with. They lost, and they lost a lot more than they ever dreamed.

Well, one thing I agree with you about pappy: both Rosa Parks and Kim Davis exercised their Constitutional rights to free speech and protest. I don't begrudge or hate either of them for it and I understand why both were arrested for breaking the law. That's where the similarities end, however.

Rosa was protesting to extend equal rights and change old Federal law, which she and others in the equal rights movement eventually succeeded in accomplishing.

Gay rights activists fought the battle for marriage equality in similar fashion as Rosa Parks and black activists fought for desegregation and equal rights for blacks. Like Rosa & company, the gay activists eventually won their battle and Federal law was changed.

Kim Davis, on the other hand, is simply protesting an order to do her job based on a conflict between her personal/religious beliefs and new Federal law. She lost her legal battle. If she keeps fighting it, like those who kept fighting against equal rights for blacks, I believe she will simply keep losing (and rightly so).

Anyway, to me, it's much more accurate to compare Kim Davis to county officials who refused to marry bi-racial couples after Loving vs. Virginia than it is to compare Kim Davis to Rosa Parks.
Many today disagree with the decision of the court; the moral and religious people in this country have educated themselves. They are now starting to community organize; they are standing in unison against this ruling and many others they feel violate their rights. My warning is simple and valid; a new civil rights organization is forming. The Tea Party was only just the beginning; a whole lot more is on the way. Remember what history teaches.
Kimmy is like George Wallace pappy... they are both elected officials who chose to not follow the law because of their beliefs. He stepped aside, she went to jail.

I don't begrudge Kimmy her devout beliefs, but perhaps public service isn't where she should be working. As a clerk, she may have to issue licenses to all sorts of people she finds immoral. Homosexuals, mothers who have had children out of wedlock, people who work on Sundays, people who use coarse language, the list could go on and on...
The clerk isn't losing any rights at all, she is using her authority to repress the legal rights of others. World of difference between that and the civil rights movement, troll.

I hope she was put through the humiliation of a strip search. Unlike how she conducts business I hope she is treated like everyone else who passes through intake. HaHaFuckingHa.

Ah, I love to see a true free market at work! hah
I don't think she should be in jail. But she should be fired for not doing her job.
