Taking guns away from a country that started out as a penal colony was probably a good idea anyways.

wikpedia and snopes is not the best source of legit info.
All of your countries where white people roam instead of Buffalo's and Didgeridoos started as some sort of penal colonies. All the rif raf that didn't make it back home and started developing poor personal hygiene habits was shipped out to those far away lands to make sure their smell is as far away as possible, no matter if it was the promised lands of America or that place where the sticks come flying back!

One interesting fact so, apparently the Aussie dialect is a result of being constantly pissed, and developed thru generations of booze heads, being proudly handed down from father to son, unlike the American South where fathers and sons were dishing out more towards their daughters, sisters and pretty much any female relative really, than just language. Or so they say.
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain.

Smiley_emoticons_smile No matter how fucked up my country is I still love it. Love yours. Dramaqueen
Here is my 2 cents worth.....I don't understand those of you who believe it is your God given right to bear arms. How can something which was signed during late 1700's, be relevant to our modern, "civilized," world? We are never going to agree. I read a "regulated militia," etc.....to means a Gov't contingent of warriors organized to protect the citizens. I do not see where it says, an individual has the right to bear arms, but whatever....I don't believe anyone who is resistant to improving availability of obtaining weapons and doesn't want tighter gun control, has something basically wrong with their brain. Further, I think gun nuts lack the common sense it takes to rid the US of our violent gun culture. People who say criminals will get weapons anyway, and that tighter gun laws will not help are really ignorant IMO and are the biggest contributors to our current violence on the streets of America. I defies logic as to why you gun fanatics resist tighter gun controls.....and try to shutdown all of those who would bad mouth those who disagree with you and your precious NRA. Selfishness and greed on the part of politicians comes to mind.

I do sign every petition which comes around re tighter gun control, more background checks, whatever it takes to keep weapons out of the wrong hands. I like to feel that every little thing I do along with those who agree with me, will only lead to a safer World for my children and grandchildren. It will be a grass roots effort on the part of like minded people, but I believe we will prevail as most of us are sick of all this violence. Just maybe, it will influence some of the video games which involve killing others and these will slowly lose their popularity to the mainstream.....Just like Duchess said, we become blase' and insensitive to these mass shootings. I, for one, have had enough......

This country is truly in trouble and if we don't change our gun hugging culture, we will be destroyed by it.....not just by terrorists, but by ourselves.

Write your Congressmen (even though most are are senile and inept) and tell them you are sick of them being in bed with the NRA. There are pre-written letters on the internet, but you will have to put your address and/or email address on any correspondence.
Nope.

Why, because I like the sound of two balloons rubbing together?
At this point I believe every regular here is very predictable.
Being regular is very predictable.

LOL
Australian film crew did a 48 hour documentary shoot in South Chicago a few weeks ago. There were over 50 shootings reported for the weekend. One shooting an hour+. Yep, we're still winning.
Yea that place is a shining example of how well barry was qualified to be where he is
Chicago is filled with more thugs than in Al Capone's day. They have decent gun laws that should stop any law abiding citizen from getting guns.
The narrator in that video is very effective, Gunnar. Interesting watch/listen.

I think that by now anyone who's been actively following or participating in this thread already knows that having the largest per-capita gun ownership rate in the world does not make the U.S. the country with the highest per-capita murder rate.

Instead, the U.S. is both the highest per-capita in terms of gun ownership worldwide and the highest per-capita in terms of gun homicides among the most developed countries.

His bit about Plano, Texas was intellectually very weak. He says that it is a gun nut capital and happens to have the lowest per-capita homicide rate in the country. So, according to his argument, if the rest of the U.S. was like Plano, Texas, the U.S. would be near the bottom (instead of the middle) in per-capita homicides for all countries worldwide.

That's really irrelevant since the whole of the U.S. is, of course, not Plano, Texas. But it's also a flawed argument in that he would need to compare Plano, Texas with the lowest homicide per-capita city in every other country for his comparison/contention to be valid on any level.

Anyway, I gather the message he wanted viewers to take away is "more guns = less murders". That is sometimes true and sometimes not. But, I agree with his direct statement that the hands holding the guns are the biggest factors when it comes to gun violence. That's where the bulk of gun control legislation should be focused, in my opinion.

The Plano Texas portion was my favorite part hah I posted it for shits and giggles.
I can't be arsed watching it, but did he mention the US's #1 ranking in mass shootings and how to address that?
The U.S. is not #1 in mass shootings. There.........play with that. Body count anyone?
Jesus, Mary and Joseph! One mass shooting (4+ victims, dead OR wounded) a day in 2015. Can you grasp that FFS?
I think all that mass shooting is actually natures way of taking care of itself. I mean look at the globe, all that gun violence is where? That's right, in the Americas. Now go to the other side of the globe where you don't have mass shootings, and what have you got there? That's right, China!

And of course India, Indonesia, basically places where a simple village got more population than the greater New York area. We can't have that and it would clearly lead to a catastrophic situation, considering how fucked up the planet is already anyway with all the people we got on it at this stage. And God knows that, which is why God makes sure America got plenty of guns to keep the proper balance, or else things would get really fucked up bad.

He either gives you rice, or guns. Can't have both!
