Holy crap. it was the Obama administration that allowed the evil bumpstock that was apparently the reason there was so many casualties. No soup for you.
I can have soup if I want it.

Don't vote for anyone from the Obama administration who runs for office if you think/know they worked with ATF to keep bump stocks legal and it means that much to you.

Unless..........those same candidates pushed and continue to advocate for significant changes in gun-related policy more than the other candidates.

Your priorities, your choices.

Las Vegas Mass Shooting -- Investigation Update

The under-sheriff, ^ Kevin MacMahill, gave the press conference today. He did a great job. The FBI special agent on the case, Aaron Rouse, was at his side.

I think Sheriff Lombardo might be in some hot water internally; just speculation. He publicly made a lot of assumptions, then said more than once he wasn't going to make assumptions. He first said that his officers and the security guard were working together when they found Paddock's room and that the security guard got separated from them. That's not what happened.

The under-sheriff explained today that the security guard, Jesus Campos, was doing routine rounds when he responded to a 'door alarm' (not gun shot noise, which was earlier reported). He went to check out the ajar door and that's when he was shot through the door, retreated and radioed for help, and then stayed and helped police when they responded to his dispatch.

The under-sheriff made a point again today of saying that Campos was the means by which police located the room which should have been acknowledged earlier, and that he was an amazing man and a hero.

(continued)
The under-sheriff answered a lot of press questions today and confirmed that:

1. LE has already reviewed the surveillance video of Paddock's room, but they're going over all the surveillance from the entire casino.

2. There is no indication that anyone visited Paddock.

3. LE is confident that there was only one shooter, regardless of public speculation and alternate theories.

4. LE is investigating every inch of Paddock's life to determine if anybody else knew anything about his plans or could offer helpful insight into the man.

5. LE doesn't know if Paddock was planning to use the 50 pounds of Tannerite found in his car at the casino for target practice or instead to possibly have the car blow up if he managed to escape and the car was shot. The under-sheriff said the Tannerite was found in its original form, not in the form of an IED (in response to a reporter's question).

7. There's no evidence that anyone used Paddock's room key while Paddock was in his car (in response to a reporter's question which seemed to come from on-line speculations).

8. No connection to Islamic or other extremism has turned up in LE's intensive search of Paddock's communications and devices, despite ISIS's claims.

9. No manifesto or suicide note was left. The note seen in the room photo had only numbers on it; analysts are trying to figure out what it means (if anything).

It's also come out in the press over the last two days that Paddock was on Valium, his girlfriend says he would sometimes wake up screaming, he took a whole lot of cruises to various countries, his brothers (like their father) have had some trouble with the law, he was always focused on money and ate lunch at the local senior center regularly for $3.50 despite reportedly being wealthy, he was rather anti-social, he'd looked into rooms at a couple of music festivals aside from Highway 91 and Life is Beautiful over the last several weeks, and LE still hasn't found anything to help them determine motive.
He was a "nowhere man"

You don't know how many times I have thought about white privilege since you started that thread. Countless. It really made me think.

This is the most complete video of the Las Vegas shooting I have seen. It must be viewed on youtube. The user has disabled its viewing from other locations. The viewer is warned of its Graphic Content.

I watched a couple minutes of it. So awful. The confusion and fear and the tat tat tat of the gun. My God.
How was that guy able to be walking in the opposite direction without people telling him to turn around? I am still watching. And thank you Duchess, I am touched by your words. I am still trying to understand it myself and don't think I can understand it fully but I think being aware is important.
Okay, the same guy that posted that video posted a video about Oprah saying she is demon possesed. He is quite a character himself. Honest News is what he calls himself. Not saying the Vegas is fake, just saying the guy who made the video is a bit of a wack job himself.
That looks like the video posted a few days ago by a county traffic worker who heard the commotion and went to help. He was heading towards everything to try and help move people out.
The previous video was taken on the Las Vegas Blvd side of the concert and this video is 180'on the other side. At about 3:11 into this video I detect the first shot or the window being broken out, followed by a volley of fire. I see some concert goers immediately aware of danger and leaving and a realization soon after that by the entire crowd.

Investigation Update

The note found in Paddock's hotel room appears to have been a tactical one, based on an interview tonight with officers who were on the scene at Mandalay Bay.

[Image: 4522294200000578-0-image-m-74_1507423693454.jpg]

The note was first discovered by Officer Dave Newton from the Las Vegas Police Department's K-9 unit, lying face-up on Paddock's nightstand.

'I could see on it he had written the distance, the elevation he was on, the drop of what his bullet was gonna be for the crowd,' Newton said. 'So he had that written down and figured out so he would know where to shoot to hit his targets from there.'

The room looked down on the crowd across the street and was an estimated 400 feet away, according to Las Vegas officials.

Newton said it was very 'eerie' to enter the room and find the lifeless body of a man who had just minutes before unleashed a rain of carnage upon hundreds of innocent people.

Authorities also revealed on Saturday that Paddock may have driven to the Nevada desert to prepare for Sunday's attack.

Investigators said that they have found surveillance footage showing Paddock driving towards a secluded area on the outskirts of Mesquite, Nevada where locals are known to practice shooting.

This bit had me nodding and laughing last night.

Well, kinda feels like this latest incident has blown over and been forgotten.

Let’s all meet up again for the next one, gnash our teeth, express our shock and outrage, and watch as it all dissipates.

Ciao.
You could always read this in between the mass shootings.

I'm with you. We just have to live our life and hope that those we care about are never murdered while living theirs.
