hah...........Holy chit!
Chicago handgun laws:
Chicago citizens, who want to own firearms, are not only required to abide by the state laws but are also required to fulfill additional obligations imposed by the Chicago Gun Laws. Citizens are required to possess a separate Chicago firearm permit to own guns. They are also required to complete the Chicago gun registration process in the local police stations and are also required to renew it every year. The firearm permit is only provided to people who complete the Chicago firearm training course, which includes one hour of range training and four hours of classroom orientation. In addition to all these stipulations, gun owners still cannot carry firearms publicly because the state laws do not permit it; they can only carry firearms within their dwellings.

Chicago shootings this 4th of July weekend:
The death toll from Chicago's bloody holiday rose on Tuesday to 16 after two men who had been shot over the Fourth of July weekend died from their wounds..

Over the course of 84 hours during the Independence Day holiday in Chicago, 82 people were shot, prompting calls from Mayor Rahm Emanuel to put a stop to gun violence in the city

Many of the shootings, which began about 3:30 p.m. Thursday, took place in some of the most violent South Side neighborhoods. Five people were reportedly shot by Chicago police, including two who died. The higher death toll was reported Tuesday by the Chicago Tribune.

Maybe Chicago needs more restrictive gun laws?
Illinois now has a permit to carry. That started early this year though. But yea fucking crook county is bad.
The article goes on to blame people buying guns out of state rather than the real reason that the crimes are being performed by people illegally obtaining them. If that was the case then make it a life sentence for anyone shooting someone with an illegally bought gun rather than creating a new subset of laws that avoid the truth of the matter for the sake of political idealism.
I have heard that many times where they blame it on buying from adjoining states and taking it home. Well as a licensed dealer I can tell you its not that easy. When a out of state resident buys a gun in another state the place he buys it from must abide by the laws of the state that the purchaser lives in. So I will use myself and a Illinois resident buying a handgun as a example since I have done this transaction many times. Buyer picks out the gun and pays me. I then take that gun, or overnight air that gun to a dealer in Illinois. Then the buyer has to go to that dealer and do the paperwork as well as the waiting period, plus pay transfer fees and do background checks as well as show their foid card. It isn't as easy as walking in plopping down the cash and putting the gun in their pocket and heading home.

Having neglected programs through schools and teaching children respect for guns by instituting scholastic achievement, society has demonized guns and the reason we have this right to keep them without infringement.
Instead of an atmosphere of fear, children and young adults should have a well rounded appreciation and respect for the tool. Just like a person would not jump into a running woodchipper through common sense, they should take the same precautions when holding a loaded weapon. Either one is a learned experience.

Education is the answer.

Gun respect and handling education is not the answer to reducing gun violence and it doesn't prevent toddler deaths.

Toddlers and small children do not have the mental capacity to be held responsible for avoiding or properly handling a loaded firearm. This is evidenced by medical/developmental science, unbiased situational experiments, and the occurrences of unintentional child shootings (by kids who've already been parent-educated in many cases). Do you really disagree that it's the parents' responsibility to protect their small children's safety by not affording them unsupervised access to loaded guns?

If you support the gun culture, that's fine. If you (collective) plan on leaving loaded unlocked guns in reach of your small children because you feel they're "educated", that's sad and negligent to me, but it's your choice and there's currently no law against it federally or in most states.

However, continuing to suggest that all kindergartners should be taught gun safety in public schools disregards completely the more than 50% of US households who choose to be gun-free. Plus, it solves no problem, IMO.

Anyway, if you want to indoctrinate your kids to guns, I agree that you should educate them as much as possible (and pray for the best if you leave loaded ones lying around). But, it's your responsibility as a parent to provide that education on your own time and your own dime, Lucas McCain. And you should be prosecuted if your small child shoots herself or anybody else. 79
How many of the parents of these dead kids successfully completed gun safety and education classes?

Secure the fucking guns and beat your children half to death if they get near them.

And prosecute the shit out of the parents if a child is injured.

Unless they live in a sanctuary city . . .
I taught my kids gun safety when they were little. I told them many times "if anyone, anywhere (adult or child) EVER shows or tries to show you a real gun, run like hell".

That was my version of gun safety 101. GTFO.

Well, I hope you expanded that home-schooling lesson by advising them not to play hide-and-seek inside the woodchipper, and not to use the electric saw to cut their bangs.....and other household "tool" safety practices.

I taught my daughter not to lift her bangs when cutting but instead to cut straight across. I taught her that the hard way by lifting her bangs and cutting them (with scissors) and leaving a jagged, unholy mess.

I came home one day and my husband had my then almost 3 y/o's out in the yard with him. My son was running around with one of these in his hand:

I snatched it from him and almost poked my husband's eye out with it. He didn't think it was a big deal. Men are stoopid and Sanctuary Cities are stoopid.
hah

I'm with you on all but the "men are stupid" part.

You sexist!
I taught my 4 year old all about gun safety and respect for the tool.

Now I'm going to take a quick shower and leave my gun on the night stand along with my bottle of oxycontin.

Here's the episode of Dateline that deals with guns & kids. It's an entire episode so I doubt many of you will tune in but it does go to show that telling kids about the dangers of guns is not good enough.

Vinnie is an idiot.

So YOU'RE the reason I still can't find .22LR in bulk!!!!

Hahahaha. Yep its me Jimbone. lol

Actually I was a nice guy a while back and grabbed one of my 50 cal ammo cans with over 6000 rounds in it and took it to the shop and sold it to those that could not find any. It put some smiles on faces that's for sure.
Now I use gunbot to locate ammo for customers and have good luck with it. It is a up to the minute ammo site that monitors all the big retailers. Give it a look http://www.gunbot.net/ammo/rimfire/22lr/

This is what over 6000 rounds of 22lr look like . Just incase you forgot Jimbone.

Ha! Clever cars... hide in plain sight!
Please tell me that's not really your coffee table Cars.

Or, please tell me it is.

I'm so torn!! The former would surprise me more. But the latter would amuse me more.
hah

I'm guessing it's is, just because I want it so badly to be true! I truly LOL'ed when I saw his post.

In my mind Cars is the typical upper middle class retiree. I view him as I do my parents peers so I don't think that's actually sitting in his living room.
