Do you live in fear? Do you have something that you worry someone will come into your home and try to take? You live in a place where there are more corn fields than people so I'm wondering what you are arming yourself against.

I go to estate auctions and the auctioneer carries a gun in a holster, I also see that the man who runs the farmers market carries one too, so does the man at the jewelry store. It's easy to see why they all carry and it's made me wonder why you do. Believe it or not, but it's not actually the norm for the average person to keep a loaded weapon within arms reach each and every day of their life and when I see someone that does it makes me curious to know what they are afraid of happening. That's not a slam or a put down or whatever you want to name it, FU, I'm simply curious what is around you to be afraid of.
I have to be honest, if I lived in the US I would carry a firearm. If I was rich, I would have security protect me, but as I am not, I would definitely carry a firearm. I've watched the crime and investigation channel, I know the risks. There are some sickos out there, and you never know.

Do you ever hear people down there commenting on the gun violence here?
yes of course, it's full on, but I don't want to be a victim. I certainly wouldn't be the oppressor, but there are many mad motherfuckers out there and you gotta be smart.

Sorry about the slow response Duch . Big party at the clubhouse last night an now I have to work. Anyway, I fear nothing or noone. I carry because I know the world is full of crazy people. I see evidence of that daily on the news.
I keep my firearms close to me for the same reason I carry mine into a gun free zone. My gun is safer on my side than left unattended in my car, or in this case just sitting on my headboard. You and others here have taught me the error in my ways about leaving loaded guns all over. So see I do listen and learn. I might go kicking and screaming but I do learn. Hahahaha

Not a problem and I appreciate your answer.

Like you, I think there are a lot of crazies out there and I hope it's never my misfortune to come upon one or more of them. No one ever thinks it's going to happen to them or happen in small towns, but it does.

I don't want gun debate nor Donald Trump tearing our site apart. I don't want feelings hurt nor people getting pissed off. We should be able to talk about anything without that happening.

Ok now you're really starting to sound obsessed with this guy.

I love to hate on him. I love to mock him. I think all of that is more fun than even shoe shopping. Matter of fact, I'd give a lot to go around the country to all my Mockers and plant either Trump or Hillary signs in all your yards. I got excited just thinking about it.
I want a I like Ike sign in my yard. That should make some of my neighbors scratch their heads.

I live here and never felt the need to carry a firearm, Aussie. You can travel the country pretty peacefully without worrying about someone killing you. Sure you don't want to be in certain places late at night, but I've walked around in big cities without ever fearing for my life. All these mass shootings, however, are becoming ridiculous and I don't even know what to say about that.

If we manage to become a group of 15+ people from all over the country (and other countries) from different walks of life discussing and debating politics, guns, religion...without anybody ever getting their feelings hurt or getting pissed off, that will be an extraordinary accomplishment. Some people are more sensitive than others in any group.

If I indicate that it's concerning that someone investigated for terrorism and with a documented history of violent behavior and threats can be hired as armed security at a government courthouse and given a permit to conceal carry, and someone responds that my concern equates to expressing a desire to take everyone's guns away, including police officers' guns........it doesn't hurt my feelings or piss me off, but I'll respond.

Are you saying that I should not respond and clarify/defend what I actually said and meant without coddling the other member if there's a chance he'll get his feelings hurt or get pissed off? (For example, I'm not suggesting that Gunnar's hurt or pissed off.)

I'm not playing confused, I'm just asking the question because I really don't understand what it is you're suggesting we shouldn't do in discussion/debate forums.

No! And let me throw in a, no, oh my God, no. That wasn't directed at you, silly. I never want anyone in Mock to hold back in any fashion. Nonono. That would suck so bad. To be uninteresting has got to be the kiss of death in regards to everything.

HotD, I'm telling you straight up, don't ever change a thing. You're perfect just the way you are.

...so is everyone in here, in their own way. I wouldn't hangout with y'all if you weren't so appealing to me.

I already have a Trump sign in my yard. I didn't put it there, the b/f did. I would pay you to come and put a Hillary sign in my yard beside Trumps in the middle of the night just to watch his head explode. Not that I want his had to explode. I just need some excitment around here every now and then. Haha....

I should add...he's not my b/f anymore, he's my fiance. Yes, F2 Is taking the plunge again after 21 years single!!!!
I'm sporting a new rock...and I think I spelled fiance wrong, it looks funny.

Okay.... now I'm sure you've been smoking some good stuff while you post today!

I wish I could join you instead of caregiving again this weekend. :(

FAHQTOO, that's great news. Congratulations!!!!

It makes me feel happy just thinking about doing that to someone who has a Trump sign. I don't want anyone getting mad, I just want to see the initial expressions. Some people would be horrified. hah

You're getting married! YOU'RE GETTING MARRIED! Ahahaha! That's wonderful news! Were you surprised when he asked you? When is the wedding, this summer? Aww, this is so nice, FQ. I'm very happy for you.

Well, tis true but it has no bearing on my opinion. I like you just the way you are, you're juuuust right.

I wish you could join me too. I'd love the opportunity to share my weed with you. Maybe you could teach me some Japanese cuss words while we passed the bowl back & forth.

You're on. Don't bogart and all...

Except I never learned any Japanese cuss words; the Japanese are all about presenting a respectable 'face' to the world; a very polite culture. That was true in the 90s at least (and I think it's probably still true today).

Maybe that's one of the reasons they have such low violent crime and murder rates? One thing I learned when I was there though -- there's a lot of less-than-respectable collusion and sexual exploitation that goes on outta sight, but nobody really talked about it openly.

I learned a few simple words, sato (sweet) hiaku (sic) means faster when cab was going to slow....and of course oh hya gozamas....i know spelling is pathetic.....konichi wa was (good evening).
Re sexual stuff, tell me about it....I met my boyfriend who recently had been deployed to Korea, in Japan....we traveled around in a train, went to Mt Fuji, stayed there in Special Services Hotel at base of Fuji, stayed at the Imperial Hotel, old grand hotel but at the time, they were adding more modern additions....
In any case, we wanted to go to a club one evening and this cab driver drove for approx 1 hour and we got out in front of a house....went into this smoked filled two story house filled with dirty old men watching porn.......that cab driver knew that is not what we meant........we ended up at the Queen Bee (my first experience in a Japanese toilet), but after returning from bathroom, there were call girls hitting on my boyfriend.....jeez, everything was about sex there.......only the men left their wives at home while they dilly dallied with the ladies......
I had dinner in Japanese home and although I was invited to eat with the men, the wife and a daughter stayed in kitchen to eat and serve.....this was the late 50's.......one of my favorite places..

Congratulations FQ2 on your engagement.......

I know what you are saying, it's kind of buying into something that you don't really want to be a part of. I am a very friendly person and talk to people all the time, I know if I went to the US I would be making friends at every turn. I have heard you are a friendly chatty bunch, it's only the worst of the worst on the Crime and Investigation channel that freak me out.

So yeah I say I would, but probably wouldn't, but I would need some sort of protection, because I can attract the wrong sort of attention too. Cuts both ways.
