I got my way with FiOS and got my NHL network last night! For free. Forever.
Now, they just need to sort out the channel lineup for my county and get my Center Ice package sorted out!

I got the extreme HD package back in January and it was supposed to be part of the package.
It kept saying "coming soon" on the channel when you tuned to it. It finally let all the other sports network channels in EXCEPT the hockey one. I had fits.
They kept trying to tell me that I had to pay for it with the paid sports package - which is total crap! - due to some deal with NHL Network.
Bullshit. I found out it was free and on the air one town north and in all the other counties. Why on earth would the NHL network want subscription only availability when they can profit more from revenue on a monthly TV service fee?
I got idiots in customer service trying to tell me that there was no one in programming when I asked for higher and higher personnel to speak to.
I found it on my own. Verizon is located in NYC - a short drive for me and I was determined to go to the city and hit corporate in person on general principles now!
Well yesterday someone from programming called me and asked me (blah blah blah) and lo and behold, by late last night, I was watching old playoff games!
I am going to call that woman back and thank her this morning.

I got an NBA channel, NHL, College Sports, Soccer, Baseball, Horseracing and I think Golf too.
I was advised to hold off on the Center Ice package to get all the games across the nation because FiOS is working on sorting out the channel lineup for my area and I would be affected by those stupid blackout rules for nearly every game because I am in the middle between NY and Philly programming.

My laptop took a dump so I'm using my backup and even though I haven't used it enough to download something that'd fuck it up, the bastard is acting weird. Constant 'not responding' error messages, looooooooooooooooong time between screen changes... it's driving me fucking crazy.
I can relate more than you will ever know...I ended up getting a new laptop & now I'm considering a kickass desktop too...I saw a 24 in. flat panel monitor that was sobbing my name, I want that puppy.
I am #50 I finally won the stinkin pool at work........now I guess I should drag my sorry ass in and go to work. (And I was having such fun at home!)

Wait till after October when Windows 7 comes out.
Lumpy, reformat the old computer if you haven't done so. That usually does the trick fixing those issues.
I'm still torn between a Mac and PC but the stupid dog just put off me getting a new computer until tax time.
The thing is, it's actually a "new" computer although I bought it a while ago... I've probably used it less than ten hours.
