First of all, I'm not 'white'. My heritage is just as mixed up, fucked up and stirred up as yours or anyone else's and I have no doubt that I've been the subject of just as much, if not more prejudices in my life as you have.

I believe you mean Duch, not Lumpy and no, it was not. I explained how I feel about using that word. One of the few exceptions to my (personal) rule about that word, is when it's used by Carlos Mencia, because he makes fun of EVERY-frigging-body.

I don't think it's 'ok' that Duch used that word, but from your post, it seemed that you were getting the impression that she is some big racist simply because she used it, and as far as I know, she isn't. That is the only point I was trying to make.

Are you overly sensitive to that word? Because if you are, people will hammer on it just to bug you. The nature of this forum allows people to make fun of other people for... pretty much anything they want to. You can't take it seriously or you will allow people to hurt you.

Are you overly sensitive to that word? Because if you are, people will hammer on it just to bug you. The nature of this forum allows people to make fun of other people for... pretty much anything they want to. You can't take it seriously or you will allow people to hurt you.

Well, I specified that 'given the situation', your level of anger seemed out of proportion with what was said. The 'situation' being, a mock forum where such things should be expected once in a while as an easy target for mocking and possibly hurting a person's feelings.

Honestly? The healthiest, most appropriate level of anger or hurt about it, would be 'Meh, fuck you. What, I'm supposed be 'ashamed' because my skin is darker than yours? Now, even in light of that, I plan to teach my son that the 'n-word' is one that he is to never use against someone (regardless of their heritage), because it's a hate word and can cause people more pain than most other 'curse' words, but the expression of bigotry itself would be considerably decreased if the person the bigotry was aimed at, did not let it affect them. Obviously, that does not hold true for more concrete forms of bigotry and racism, such as refusing to hire a person because of (race/sex/religion/etc) or beating a person or whatever.

No. I am not angry. In fact, I doubt that anyone in this forum can accomplish that. We're just talking.

My opinion would be that people are people and, as such, most people (regardless of outward appearance) simply don't have the insight to understand how to create a more healthy attitude within themselves. It can't be helped. That is why, in addition to my observations on how people 'should' react to racial slurs, I plan to teach my son not to use them and I don't use them myself (aside from the rare jab in Mock just for the sake of being an asshole TO someone who is being an asshole).

I've given my opinions, how about yours?

And although it's fun to have someone else who is up late on Mock (I guess most Mockers are East-coast), I have to get to bed.

I am astounded that you would have the nerve to tell folks how they should react to racial slurs. Seems very arrogant to me.

Teaching your kid not to partake in using racial slurs - a good move.

Kind of funny how Julie continues to attribute posts to the wrong people, mostly me, so she can fling insults around yet Frank is strangely silent about HER being a liar.

And since we were talking about Aesop's Fables yesterday, here's a little story that reminds me of our darling Julie:

looks like you backed the wrong horse, and your well intended explanations & moral platitudes were all for naught.

Turns out Douche is not sorry for using the word NIGGER. She simply regrets that her pals - the NON NIGGERS - had to see it, and she believes that what transpired between me & LP and between me & her was actually an acceptable justification for the use of the word NIGGER.

By the looks of things, what transpired between LP & Frank was far deeper and far more injurious than what transpired between me & Douche / LP; yet, Douche did not NIGGER Frank up....so we can conclude with reasonable certainty that this word was used because I'm Black....not because, as you discussed, the word NIGGER can be applied to ill bahaved people of every hue.

Use of the word nigger is NEVER justified.
