I've got a three hole punch at work, I wonder if I should keep it in my car in case of emergency.

STFU, Ramsey.

Or else, just go ahead and admit that insurance companies ARE the devil.

You are just pissed because you don't pay your bill and probably have shitty credit and your premiums are high. Throw in a couple of tickets and there you go. You do realize that insurance companies are in business to make money? We don't do this for charity. One day you will get hurt in an accident and when your insurance pays all your medical bills with no copays or deductibles you will appreciate it.

I'm not pissed about not paying my bill, I'm actually kind of smug about it. Fuck the insurance companies. I bet I got away with basically not paying insurance for a good 10 years or more... just paying it once a year for the first month, so I could get my vehicle registration. I saved thousands of dollars more than I'm paying in 'higher rates' penalties now (maybe $30/month more than I would have otherwise), so 86

I do have 'shitty credit', but that's solely the fault of my ex and I'm getting that cleaned up, slowly but surely.

Yes, every scam is in business to make money, that doesn't make their practices 'ok'. I'm 'in business to make money' too, and guess what? I help people all the time. I'm always giving people breaks on their repair costs when they are desperate and have little money, sometimes I even do things for free (though not often, I usually charge at least a $15 minimum because people usually don't value something that is totally free), I also organize several charity events for my community, which I mostly pay for out of my pocket. So, do I feel like I'm BETTER than the insurance companies??? HEEELLLL YES.

ramseycat Wrote:One day you will get hurt in an accident and when your insurance pays all your medical bills with no copays or deductibles you will appreciate it.

You mean after I jump through all of the claims adjusters' hoops and abuses and HOPE that I can prove that I AM entitled to the coverage? Oh wait... that's right... I don't HAVE coverage. I only have liability, so I'm only paying to cover the OTHER guy's ass. With my luck, if I'm ever in an accident serious enough to need medical coverage, the person who hits me will be 'uninsured' and sure, you could say 'Hah! Karma!' only that's bullshit because *I* never hurt anyone by going without coverage. I never had an accident or ticket. I played the odds and I won, so yeah... I'm smug about it. :87:

I am not going to address this whole thing because I already have in previous posts. But your ex is a dickhead and I can totally understand that. As far as jumping through hoops for coverage, that isn't the case. Auto and No Fault coverage are not like health insurance where you have to get a referral and approval and all that. You get in an accident, if you have collision your car is covered. If you are hurt, then your medical bills are covered. Period. That is NYS law. I menetioned Michigan before because I thought you lived there, but that is your friend D. I do see your point Syber. But if you sat where I sat and saw how many people scam the system and stay out of work when they are not injured collecting wages from us or the unethical attorneys and providers, you would see my side. One thing I will say is that the company I work for is one of the best. We don't deny anyone coverage and it takes a lot to get someone cut off even when I know they are faking.

I've got a co-worker that complains bitterly when he doesn't get overtime, goes over our first and second level's heads to whine and usually ends up getting it when he plays the race card/EEO/Union grievance possibility. So yesterday, he comes in an hour late and leaves half an hour into his two hours of OT... and this isn't unusual. Yeah, we've complained but unless they're secretly documenting his shit, nothing's being done about it... he keeps getting fucking OT.

I don't know what it is about my area, but we keep getting saddled with employees with a very bad work ethic.

I'm working on the seating chart for my boss' holiday gala & I've been getting phone calls from guests asking to be seated here or seat them there...WTF !...This isn't grade school, they are certainly permitted to mingle all fuckin' night long...Jesus Christ...I have brief moments where I just want to say, Bitch, you're gonna sit where I fucking seat you...I won't say that of course.

Yeah, like I said... there are scammers everywhere and it sucks. Anything that's in place to 'help people' is an open invitation to those who will take advantage.

I actually think that 'Insurance' should work like this: You basically get what you put into it. Liability shouldn't be for 'other people', it should be for yourself. If you pay into it and you get hurt, regardless of who is to blame, you can file a claim up to a certain percentage of the total amount you have paid into your policy (like say... 80%). You can never go beyond that amount. If people choose not to pay into insurance and they get into an accident... well too bad for them. At least then, I wouldn't feel like I was pouring my money down a well for no particular reason other than to line the pockets of insurance companies.

And stop being nice for fucks sake. That's no fun. 16

You just liked him because he made you think of McDonalds every time you saw his name.

Liability works both ways. If you hit someone and it's deemed YOUR fault, YOUR liability insurance will cover it for the person you hit. YOU are shit out of luck to a degree. I am pretty sure medical to a certain amount is included for you as well. I'm not sure on that as it could be state to state on the regulations on what only liability covers.

If you hit someone and killed them and you had no insurance, and it was your fault, how comfortable are you saying, "well too bad for them"? They have no recourse if it's your fault and you have nothing they (they = the survivors or family of the deceased) can sue you for.

The most they can get out of you is whatever their no-fault covers and anything you're worth like your house. They can garnish your check if you work on the books but if you have nothing they get nothing.

No, insurance is a good thing, we just need it reformed to make it insurance again and not gambling.

I'm not totally sure on that point, but I think the 'medical' listed on my liability is only for the other people.

Well, I don't know. I mean I would feel 'bad', but accidents happen. No amount of money will bring back someone who is dead. If, for example, (god forbid) someone smashed into me and killed my little boy. I'm sure I would go after any amount I could get from it... but it would never make me feel any better about what had happened. There's just something 'wrong' about collecting money to 'pay' for someone's life. As for being a deterrent to people driving unsafely, I don't think it is. The possibility of jail time and such is more of a deterrent than 'oh my gosh, my insurance company will have to pay that person a lot of money!', ya know?

Ant Wrote:No, insurance is a good thing, we just need it reformed to make it insurance again and not gambling.

Yeah, I agree that the concept of insurance is a good thing, but the current application of it sucks ass.
