The attempt to flee had already been eliminated from the equation as Trayvon had tried to avoid Zimmerman, and Zimmerman would not back off.

I'm asking because I read somewhere that Zimmexican was attacked on the way BACK to his truck.

Of course that isn't a fact, only the witnesses know. One party to the killing can give his side, the other one can't, but there were also other witnesses.

Trayvon said on the phone at the time that he was trying to get away from the 'guy following him'. Remember that "the guy" was not dressed as a cop or like anyone that had a position of authority. Just an aggressive man who was twice his weight and not familiar. Trayvon was 140 lbs. He was far out weighed by Zimmerman. Anyone who would think Trayvon, being unarmed, would aggress towards Zimmerman had better think again. If anything Zimmerman provoked Trayvon into reacting and remember Zimmerman was carrying deadly force. I can see Zimmerman baiting Trayvon and fullfilling his (zimmerman's) expectations that he set out to prove.

I made sure I live in a neighborhood that is relatively crime-free. MF thinks it's racist that I want to live in a white neighborhood, but I can go away for a weekend and not have to worry about being robbed. I don't think it's racist that you want to live in a white neighborhood. I want to live in a predominantly white neighborhood. Most of us want to live around people that share our appearances, with similar cultural practices, etc. It's a comfort many animals share. Racism traces back to tribes having good reason to fear other tribes.

I thought Trayvon was bigger than that. How big is/was the kid because that would tell if Zimmerman was treating him as an adult and not a kid. Its tough to tell sometimes. I think Zimmerman should be at least arrested for manslaughter unless the police are waiting to file a murder charge. Most of this thread is based on media output which in many cases does not have a good track record.

Did they determine who was screaming for help on the tape? It sounded like a kid to me. I don't think there is much more to the story than Zimmerman playing a cop and committing cold blooded murder.

It is easy to get carried away with emotion with this case. That kid should be alive. BUT, the law isn't supposed to charge/convict based on emotion. The outcome will depend on what happened at the moment of the shooting and if it is a case of self-defense.

It's a bad situation. People are going to be pissed if he isn't charged with murder. I have a feeling it will be manslaughter because he shouldn't have followed Trayvon, but I doubt it will be murder.

I am not pretending to be better than you or anyone else. I AM better than you. Unlike you, I don't judge a person by the color of their skin, where they live, where they went to school, and your list of what makes a person worthy. I look at what a person is on the inside. The way you come off on here is that you are too good for the garbage man because well, he is the garbage man. And if he is black? Well, he is scum. But maybe, the dude is a nice guy. A good father. DeKalb police are investigating fatal shooting Saturday night of an 18-year-old boy who was allegedly killed by two apartment security guards, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Authorities told Channel 2 that Ervin Jefferson was shot to death near his home on Pleasant Wood Drive. The guards, who were on duty at the nearby Village at Wesley Chapel Apartments, told police they were checking out a suspicious car at about 10:30 p.m. when they heard gunfire coming from Jefferson’s home.

The guards told police they saw Jefferson leave the home and walk toward them aggressively, while making threats to kill. That’s when the guards drew their weapons and fired at the teen, hitting him in the chest, police told Channel 2.

The guards, who police did not name, told police they heard more gunfire coming from the house, so they ran back to the complex, where they met police.

STARKVILLE, Miss. — A 21-year-old student was shot to death in a Mississippi State University dormitory, though the killing appears to be isolated and there is no indication others may be in danger, officials said Sunday.

University president Mark Keenum said Sunday in a statement on the school's website that the killing of 21-year-old John Sanderson of Madison, Miss., was the first time a student had been shot on the campus. Keenum said officials could reveal few other details because of the ongoing investigation.

Three male suspects fled the building in a blue Crown Victoria. No arrests have been made.

The media sucks. I heard on the radio today a witness reported that Zimmerman was the person who was crying for help and he ended up with a broken nose and fractured skull. Another witness claimed someone with a white shirt (Zimmerman) was on top beating the shit out of the kid.

Some people question why the cries for help immediately ceased when Zimmerman fired the gun. That isn't terribly significant to me because I could see Zimmerman stopping yelling too once he fired the shot.

I want to know when Zimmerman pulled his gun. If he approached the kid with gun drawn or menacingly, the kid had every reason to fight for his life.

Regardless, the fact that Zimmerman was basically stalking this kid, the racial epithets etc. argues at least for some type of manslaughter charge IMO.

It will be nice when a thorough investigation is completed and some facts are released. The police really screwed this up.

If it ends up with manslaughter charges instead of Murder 1^st degree...there will be burnings and riots no matter what the exact details IMO.

Wonder if he's still going out on patrol...keeping the streets safe from convenience store patrons.

Manslaughter is what it was. Second degree felony. 15 years.

It is very tragic that this boy died but I don't have enough facts to determine if Zimmerman is actually guilty of a crime or just very poor judgement. I am surprised that so many people are ready to lynch the guy based on the blatantly biased "facts" the media is reporting. Again, just playing devil's advocate here......

From actual police reports and public statements:

Law enforcement TRAINS neighborhood watch to do surveillance on suspicious people. Isn't this what George did??? - " From an official police statement: Training provided by law enforcement agencies to Neighborhood Watch organizations stresses non-contact surveillance of suspicious situations and notifying police of those situations so that law enforcement can respond and take control of the situation."

It keeps being reported that he was "ordered" not to follow Trayvon, when in fact he was not - From an official police statement - "The telecommunications call taker asked Zimmerman “are you following him”. Zimmerman replied, “yes”. The call taker stated “you don’t need to do that”. The call taker’s suggestion is not a lawful order that Mr. Zimmerman would be required to follow."

According to the 911 call, Zimmerman was watching while he was on the phone with dispatch and Trayvon started towards HIM -

“Yeah, now he’s coming toward me. He’s got his hands in his waist band.”
“Something’s wrong with him. Yep, he’s coming to check me out.”
“He’s got something in his hands. I don’t know what his deal is”


After the boy ran off, Zimmerman claims he got out to check the address to give officers, then he claims he was attacked as he was walking back to his truck:
911 call - "Alright, what address are you parked in front of?"
Zimmerman: "Um, I don’t know. It’s a cut-through so I don’t know the address"

From police statement - "Zimmerman’s statement was that he had lost sight of Trayvon and was returning to his truck to meet the police officer when he says he was attacked by Trayvon."

The police report shows that several witnesses were interviewed and states that - "his back appeared to be wet and was covered in grass. Zimmerman was also bleeding from his nose and the back of his head" and "I was yelling for someone to help me and no one would help me".

Other things that aren't widely reported in the media
- Trayvon's dad did not live in that gated neighborhood. His girlfriend lived in a nearby apartment complex
- I am NOT saying he deserved this or it matters what he was wearing but why does the family feel the need to show him as much younger and innocent looking? Recent pictures show he has a gold grill and looks a good bit more menacing than the old pictures being splashed all over: The comments on the picture are NOT mine...


Of course it is possible that Zimmerman is lying but it wouldn't make sense to call 911 if you were planning to kill someone right? He could have just shot the guy THEN said Trayvon attacked him. And if his intent was to harm Trayvon - he was armed, couldn't he have done it before he was getting his nose and head bashed??? You can hear him crying for help almost a full minute on the 911 tape so he must not have had his gun drawn.

Anyways, either way it is heartbreaking this kid lost his life. But it might be too soon to have angry mobs hunting down Zimmerman. I am just so sick of blacks making everything a racial issue. And our "white black" president trying to incite racial tension so he can pander to the black voters.
