i hate to say it, but i believe the "accidental" release by Corey's office was intentional.

i posted the photo here, most outlets refusing to publish it, but the cat is out of the bag.

The office of Special Prosecutor Angela Corey delivered 76 pages of new evidence to the media today, but inadvertently included a photograph of Trayvon Martin's dead body, along with school records for accused murderer George Zimmerman. The 17-year-old Martin can be seen face-down on a lawn after being shot in a black-and-white photocopied version of a picture taken by a witness. An aide for Corey followed the mistaken release with an e-mail noting that the "photo depicting the killing of a person" was "confidential and exempt" from public disclosure according to state law, but as of now, The Smoking Gun has published the grainy image.
Among the new information revealed: Authorities found the teen's blood on the bag of Skittles he had in his pocket.

Corey's office released all of the documents, then retracted the majority, explaining that they were inadvertently released and were exempt from public disclosure. Prosecutors did not intend to distribute the photo of Trayvon's body, nor Zimmerman educational records, a spokeswoman for Corey said.

The new evidence did not include any bombshells. Defense attorneyMark O'Marareceived it Wednesday.

The records show that contrary to what Zimmerman has said, he did not graduate from Seminole State College because he failed an astronomy class in the fall of 2011.

He was pursuing a two-year degree in criminal justice but had twice flunked algebra, the records show. He also was placed on academic probation the summer of 2011 because his grade-point average dropped below 2.0, a C average.

In the fall of 2009, he got a C in "Evil Minds – Violent Predators." He earned a D in "Intro To Criminal Justice."

Zimmerman was enrolled at Seminole State and was taking three courses at the time of Trayvon's death, but school officials kicked him out after the shooting, citing safety concerns.

LC, what significance does the blood on the Skittles bag have, if any? Martin was face down? Wasn't he shot in the chest--does that just mean he rolled over before he died?

i can't think of any evidentiary value of blood on skittles bag.

and either he did roll over or someone turned him over. i just don't know.

That's already been established. Smiley_emoticons_razz
i'm surprised. no, shocked. something caused this turnaround in strategy.

ORLANDO, Florida – The attorney for the man who shot and killed unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin said Monday he'll seek to get the case dismissed using a traditional self-defense argument and not the state's "stand your ground" statute.

Mark O'Mara, who is defending George Zimmerman against a second-degree murder charge in the fatal February shooting, said the traditional self-defense approach is appropriate because the facts suggest his client couldn't retreat from a beating Martin was giving him.

Zimmerman's attorneys had said last week that they would use Florida's controverial "stand your ground" law, which allows people to use deadly force -- rather than retreat -- if they believe their lives are in danger.

"The facts don't seem to support a `stand your ground' defense," O'Mara said.
Whoa. Sounds like he's admitting some culpability for pursuing Trayvon.

Wait, never mind. He's claiming purely self defense??

Wow.
this makes strategy somewhat clearer

Will he stay, or will he go?

Judge Kenneth Lester has said he will not step down from the case against George Zimmerman, because there is no conflict of interest.
But Zimmerman's defense team says that's not true.
Monday, attorney Mark O'Mara announced he has filed an appeal to get Lester taken off the case of second-degree murder against Zimmerman, who shot and killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in February.

O'Mara had filed an earlier motion asking Lester step down, but the judge refused.

Our legal analyst, Central Florida attorney Joy Ragan, said O'Mara does not think Zimmerman can get a fair trial under Lester, because his client has damaged credibility.

"That's why Mr. O'Mara is going to these extraordinary measures to get the judge off the case," said Ragan. "I think that he really believes that the 'Stand Your Ground' motion is damaged by what his client has done."

OS --OH SHIT! not happening O'Mara! he's in deep shit now. peoples' sympathy for wasted monies is exhausted i think. O'Mara should have cut his loses with this client. not worth it for the publicity. he already has a good rep/ so far. he does not need a high-profile case to cement his cred. it may damage it instead.

ORLANDO SENTINEL.

Murder suspect George Zimmerman, whose plight prompted thousands of well-wishers to donate a flood of money — more than a collective $250,000 — is nearly broke, his lawyer said Monday, and plans to ask the public to pay for his defense. Beat_deadhorse

"He really has to live as a hermit, unfortunately," said Mark O'Mara. "He's not doing well. He's getting by."

His legal-defense fund, which once hovered around $210,000, now has a balance of $50,000, O'Mara said Monday, with about $20,000 in outstanding bills.

Zimmerman and his wife, Shellie, are out of work, living in hiding in Seminole County, and spending a great deal of money on security because they fear for their lives, O'Mara said.

"Seminole County is unquestionably the most dangerous county, most expensive county for him to be in," O'Mara said.

He intends to ask the court to declare Zimmerman indigent, an official finding that the 28-year-old Sanford man is broke and needs the public to pay his legal expenses.

Zimmerman also will ask a judge to let him move out of the county, O'Mara said Monday.

"I want him safe. If he's out of state, so be it," O'Mara said.

The request to be declared indigent will be an awkward one, coming from Zimmerman and O'Mara.

(CNN) -- A Florida appeals court has granted defendant George Zimmerman's request for a new judge in his murder trial, Zimmerman's lawyer said Wednesday.

Zimmerman is charged with murder in the February death of teenager Trayvon Martin.

His defense team wanted Seminole County Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester removed because they said he used "disparaging" language against Zimmerman in a bail order last month.

The Fifth District Court of Appeal granted Zimmerman's request Wednesday, and Lester must now step down.
I wish they would get this trial started already.
Ramsey, delay is good for the defense, it's a frequent tactic. ^
furor dies down and witnesses get forgetful.

Thursday, the 18th Judicial Circuit Court announced that Criminal Administrative Judge Debra Nelson has been assigned to the Zimmerman case, replacing Judge Kenneth Lester after Zimmerman's defense team requested his removal.

George Zimmerman's murder trial in the death of Trayvon Martin was set for June 10 during a hearing in court this morning.

....Attorneys in the case said they estimate the trial will last three weeks. Prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda said he expected jury selection would take longer than the trial itself....

After the hearing, Zimmerman's defense tweeted he will likely seek a hearing under the controversial self-defense law commonly known as “stand your ground” in the months leading up to trial....

Zimmerman’s wife Shellie Zimmerman, 25, is charged with perjury, and her attorney was also in court for this morning. Prosecutors say she lied at her husband’s first bond hearing when she testified that the couple was broke.

Prosecutors agreed with Shellie Zimmerman’s lawyer to delay the next hearing in her case until Dec. 12. No trial date was set in that case.

Neither defendant appeared in court today. Both are living in hiding in Seminole County....

There’s another hearing in his case Friday. Among the things the judge will then hear is an argument about whether to allow O’Mara to subpoena Trayvon’s school records and whether the public should know about future defense subpoenas and what evidence they produce.

She’ll also hear argument about whether prosecutors are entitled to George Zimmerman’s medical records.....
Damn. The wheels of justice really do turn slowly.

Trayvon Martin's school records and social media profiles will be turned over to the defense team ... a judge ruled today.

Judge Debra Nelson ruled today that the academic, attendance and disciplinary records, along with the 17-year-old's Twitter and Facebook accounts, would be made available to Zimmerman's attorneys. The information could become public if Zimmerman's attorneys use it at trial....

Martin's parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, argued ahead of the hearing that their son's school records were irrelevant to the case and should be not given to the defense team. ...
So, what's George Zimmerman up to these days?

Selling his autograph to help pay for his defense and living expenses, of course. You can buy this autographed thank you card for all of those hard-to-shop-for people on your Christmas list!

His defense is now a full blown public relations and fund raising effort coordinated by George and the O'Mara Law Group.

Snipped from the NEW GEORGE ZIMMERMAN DEFENSE FUND website:
The New George Zimmerman Defense Fund will be operated with the strong premise that George Zimmerman is innocent of the charges against him, and that his actions were justifiable self-defense with the purpose of preventing further great bodily harm or even death at the hands of an attacker who had already caused him great bodily injury. The New George Zimmerman Defense Fund will also be operated with the well-documented assertion that George Zimmerman was the victim of a coordinated public relations attack designed to assert that George acted with racial bias, a public relations attack that was perpetrated with the intent to prejudice the media and the citizens of this country with unfounded misinformation about George, and with the purpose of profiting from a tragedy.

Meanwhile, Trayvon Martin is still dead.
Give me a fucking break. I can't fathom how anyone would view George as a victom in this case.
