Now where have I heard that before? hah

I read a Time "journalist" stated preparing for riots after the verdict is "akin to racial fear mongering".

I haven't watched much news since the verdict was announced but I don't expect major riots. The Oscar Grant verdict was a big nothing next to what was predicted.

I do think the SYG law is flawed and I just turned on the TV and George's brother is speaking. I'd like to string that guy up by his balls. Fucker.
Stringing George's brother up by the balls is too kind. Thinking about something more painful and appropriate...

He really is a fucktard.
This while a black woman in the same state of Florida got a minimum sentence of 20 years for firing warning shots to scare off her abusive husband?

Nah, not racial at all.

That's enough for me. He won't be living in the hell of a prison cell but it will be hell nonetheless.

I'm very sorry for Trayvon's parents and all those who cared about him.

Now I'm waiting for the excitement of all the riots that will stretch from sea to shining sea. Sarcastic

So when do we get the pleasure of seeing fat assed George's equally fat assed wife go on trial for perjury. 57

Adub, I'm sorry for you too. I know you were somewhat invested in this case and have followed it from the beginning.
So if you are a fat liar and shoot dead an unarmed teenager? - not guilty.

If you are a black woman and fire warning shots to scare off your abusive husband? - 20 years.

Yeah sounds like justice to me.

I see George living a life that's similar to the one that Casey Anthony is living right now. Smiley_emoticons_smile
Does Casey Anthony live in constant never ending fear?

You can count on one hand the number of times she's been seen in public since her verdict. Yes, I do believe she lives in fear as one of the most hated women in America.
I hope that fat liar ends up the same as her.

George's brother said (last night) that he is worried now that vigilantes will take the law into their own hands. Oh the irony. 78
If George did end up getting shot and killed by a vigilante it would be a case of karma is a bitch.

George will be fine, he's getting his gun back.
I've been reading up on these “stand your ground” laws.

They seem to offer no protection for people in their own homes suffering domestic violence from their spouse.

They do seem to offer protection to people on the streets pursuing strangers though.

It might seem racial to some, not so much to others. Marissa Alexander was convicted of Assault with a deadly weapon for firing a shot through a wall. Since her husband was locked out and had not made it inside the home she cannot claim Imminent Danger. A shooter is responsible for the bullet once it leaves the barrel, shooting through a wall is stupid and negligent, no other way to look at it. There is no way in hell she could know exactly what that bullet would do once it passed through the wall. So by statute she did the crime, by statute she can't claim self defense or SYG. SO, unfortunately for she now has to do the time. Should have taken the deal for 3, poor lawyering IMO.

If you take the decision to own a gun for whatever reason, you MUST arm yourself with the knowledge of when you can use it and how.
The law here is pretty clear and access to it is free, all you have to do is read and heed.

The laws labeled SYG do have some problems that should be fixed, no doubt.
Most of it is good law IMO but there is one area that I see as a very gray area, Domestic Violence. There is an exclusion in there that says something to the effect that you can't shoot someone that lives there.
THAT needs cleaning up.
If there ever is a case of “stand your ground” that I agree with is the right to stand your ground in your own home against a violent or abusive spouse.

That is the kind of situation where you should have your right to stand your ground protected.

I don't buy the idea that shooting “recklessly through a wall” deserves a custodial sentence but shooting an unarmed teenager in the chest doesn't.

Lol.

The stand your ground law in a nutshell.

It really is a case of licence to kill.

Everyone with a gun is fucking James Bond now.

I saw that story too and thought Wtf? She should have killed him and claimed self defense.
