With no eyewitnesses and only Zimmerman left to tell the tale, he and his defense team can make good use of the head injury photos (if they're substantiated). No one to refute the story.

Yep. Unless there's convincing evidence to the contrary, I can see Zimmerman walking.

That dead body is pretty good evidence to the contrary. Like HOTD sez, let's wait for the autopsy reports.

What a clusterfuck, someone becomes famous for shooting someone. Zimmerman is now a celebrity. This is insane.
(CNN) -- The neighborhood watch volunteer who fatally shot Trayvon Martin could remain behind bars until the middle of next week due to concerns about collecting enough funds for his $150,000 bond, his lawyer said Saturday.

Attorney Mark O'Mara visited his client George Zimmerman in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility in Sanford, Florida on Saturday, a day after Seminole County Judge Kenneth R. Lester Jr. set the bond. Prosecutors had asked that Zimmerman remain in jail without bond until trial or that it be set at $1 million.

With the 10% cash payment customarily made to secure bond, Zimmerman could be freed with $15,000 from his family, attorneys said.

Speaking to reporters Saturday outside the jail, O'Mara said his client is "focused on getting out" while still aware this is "a long, long process."

"This is the first few steps," the lawyer said. "And he's still very worried about the fact that he's facing a life sentence on a 2nd-degree murder charge."

A group gathered outside the Seminole County Courthouse to show a message of support for George Zimmerman.
IMO if the photos of Zimmerman's head are admitted into evidence, a conviction of 2nd degree murder is going to be hard to get.

I am wondering why this is still being seen as a racially motivated crime? Zimmerman is no more white than President Obama, as they both have one white parent. The police call tape proves that the dispatcher is the one who asked if Trayvon was "White, Black or Hispanic", and George said "Fucking punks" NOT "Fucking coons" under his breath. IMO if the prosecution thought they could get a hate crime to stick they would have charged Zimmerman with one.
A half dozen reporters, photographers and cameramen began staking out the Seminole County Jail early Saturday in Sanford, a day after a Florida judge agreed to let Zimmerman out on $150,000 bail. Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O'Mara, said it would take a few days before Zimmerman is released. His family needs time to secure collateral for the bail, Zimmerman needs to be fitted with an electronic monitoring device and O'Mara said he must find a secure location for him.

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester on Friday indicated that Zimmerman would be allowed to leave Florida if arrangements can be made with law enforcement to have him monitored out of state.

they could have already removed him from that jail to another. jail officials never tell inmates or anyone else when they will be moved. they could release him from east armpit florida with no cameras following.
i am really shocked judge said he could leave florida, even with monitoring. it's a 40-mile boat ride to Bimini. life in prison? helloooooooo Bahamas! Hibye
after 20 years observing Fla. criminal justice first-hand, it's my belief that prosecutor Corey overcharged this case. manslaughter would be more appropriate. she may have done it to encourage a plea bargain. if it isn't thrown out in an immunity hearing, a jury may well go for the lesser included charge of manslaughter.
I wonder what effect this case will have on Neighborhood Watch programs. Would you go out and patrol your neighborhood now? Can you do it safely without a gun now if people are looking to take a little payback for Trayvon?

I feel badly for people who live in shitty neighborhoods.
My neighborhood will remain safe, we don't have a neighborhood watch program to fuck us up.
I live in a nice neighborhood without neighborhood watch. I would NOT ever live in a gated community.
I have gates, they are closed for a reason.

True that. Makes me think it's an easy way for them to finish this rather broken situation legally. For some reason GZ is being protected.

Who posted the 150k?

Maybe the FRSF Committee (Florida Republican Slush Fund)
I haven't paid much attention to Zimmerman's comrade, but WTF! ROFLMAO!

“There's an old saying if you plant corn, you get corn.”

O’Brien asks for further clarification, and Taaffe says, “It is what it is. It is what it is. I would go on record by stating that of the eight prior burglaries in the 15 months prior to the Trayvon Martin shooting, all of the perpetrators were young black males.”

Taaffe denies telling The New York Times that the prior burglaries were done by “Trayvon-like dudes with their pants down."

IMO- it's more like "If you look for corn you will find corn'
Taaffe's loyalty is admirable, but he's been all over cable news since day one making an asshole of himself. Blah-blah-0006Blah-blah-0006

"The neighborhood was on edge, particularly since they had suffered 8 burglaries in the past 14 months. Including the terrifying experience of resident Olivia Bertalan:

21 year old Bertalan was home alone with her infant son one morning last August when a man came to her door, knocked, and rang the bell. She peered out the window and didn't recognize the man. But then called police when another man came to her back door.

She ran upstairs clutching her son and locked herself in a bedroom as the second man entered her home. Terrified, both she and her son cried as the man tried to enter through the locked door of the bedroom. Both men ran when police arrived, but not before stealing a laptop and digital camera.

After the crime she was afraid to come home. She and her husband got a dog, as advised by police. "It was terrible," said Bertalan, who moved from the neighborhood last month because of this and other burglaries.

"There was definitely a sense of fear in the neighborhood after all of this started happening, and it just kept on happening. It wasn't just a one time thing. It was every week," she said. "Our next-door neighbor actually said if someone came into his yard or house he would shoot him. Everyone felt afraid and scared."

For years, Twin Lakes has been beset by crime which finally lead them to start a neighborhood-watch organization last September. The burglary of Olivia Bertalan’s home in August seems to have been a catalyst

There was a large sign post at the entrance of this gated community saying it had neighborhood watch and suspicious people would be reported to 911. This should give someone new in the neighborhood fair warning as to why they may be followed or watched and should invoke a sense of cooperation and understanding from those visiting."

I think "corn" means "negro."
That's probably true. If two black people reproduce the odds are they're going to have a black kid.

The last news pieces that I read indicated that 10% bond, $15k, would be posted by Zimmerman's family. Also indicated that his family was working to secure collateral for the full $150k bail amount.

Article/update from today at link below. Good to see that public rage in the area (and nationally) has died down considerably since Zimmerman was charged and arrested.
