I agree. What scares me is that a defense attorney will find a TON of holes in this investigation. So regardless if he was charged, I do not think he will see any jail time. (if he makes it that long)

The pictures of his injuries do not convince me anymore that he had the fight of his life. A broken nose, and a cut on his head to me do not depict a life or death moment.

This law is going to be a huge part, because it will argue what is the meaning of "fight for your life", what is the meaning of self defense with deadly force. Hand to hand fighting to me is not a fight for your life.

I still have a hard time wrapping my mind around that he put his gun in his waist band, and left him face down when the officers arrived.

(1) A person is presumed to have held a reasonable fear of imminent peril of death or great bodily harm to himself or herself or another when using defensive force that is intended or likely to cause death or great bodily harm to another if:
(a) The person against whom the defensive force was used was in the process of unlawfully and forcefully entering, or had unlawfully and forcibly entered, a dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle, or if that person had removed or was attempting to remove another against that person’s will from the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle; and
(b) The person who uses defensive force knew or had reason to believe that an unlawful and forcible entry or unlawful and forcible act was occurring or had occurred.
(2) The presumption set forth in subsection (1) does not apply if:
(a) The person against whom the defensive force is used has the right to be in or is a lawful resident of the dwelling, residence, or vehicle, such as an owner, lessee, or titleholder, and there is not an injunction for protection from domestic violence or a written pretrial supervision order of no contact against that person; or
(b) The person or persons sought to be removed is a child or grandchild, or is otherwise in the lawful custody or under the lawful guardianship of, the person against whom the defensive force is used; or

Zimmerman is abusing the protections provided under the law in this case. It is clearly intended to protect you from an aggressor. IMO-Trayvon is being characterized as the aggressor only so as invoke the protections afforded zimmerman under this law.

Stopped and looked at the geographical marker a couple of years ago. It's right outside of Lebanon.

White man beaten by juveniles

OLEDO, Ohio (WUPW) - Saturday afternoon around 4:45 p.m., 78-year-old Dallas Watts was walking home from the gas station at the corner of Starr and White in East Toledo.

He was confronted by six juveniles between the ages of 11 to 17, both white and black, and for the next three or four minutes was nearly beaten to death because of, as he says, the color of his skin.

The article isn't clear whether the kids were actually making racist statements, but they did punch and kick an elderly man for no apparent reason except (possibly) that he was white (unless they were only after his pork rinds). I wonder if Al and Jesse will have anything to say about this crime?

NBC News has fired a producer who was involved in the production of a misleading segment about the Trayvon Martin case in Florida.

The person was fired on Thursday, according to two people with direct knowledge of the disciplinary action who declined to be identified discussing internal company matters. They also declined to name the fired producer. A spokeswoman for NBC News declined to comment.

The action came in the wake of an internal investigation by NBC News into the production of the segment, which strung together audio clips in such a way that made George Zimmerman’s shooting of Mr. Martin sound racially motivated. Ever since the Feb. 26 shooting, there has been a continuing debate about whether race was a factor in the incident.

The segment in question was shown on the “Today” show on March 27. It included audio of Mr. Zimmerman saying, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. He looks black.”

But Mr. Zimmerman’s comments had been taken grossly out of context by NBC. On the phone with a 911 dispatcher, he actually said of Mr. Martin, “This guy looks like he’s up to no good. Or he’s on drugs or something. It’s raining and he’s just walking around, looking about.” Then the dispatcher asked, “O.K., and this guy — is he white, black or Hispanic?” Only then did Mr. Zimmerman say, “He looks black.”

Everyone has a right to protect themselves against a real threat. But, the racial extremist groups on both sides are exasperating the mob mentally, with agendas not limited to protecting innocent people or seeking rectification of an injustice, imo.

Wouldn't local officials be monitoring the threat level and call in the National Guard or some official group if they felt there was a riot brewing? - that's a genuine question; I'm not sure of the criteria.

I don't think neo-Nazis claiming to be there on request of local white residents is the most rational solution to contain a racial boiling pot. The Grand Jury convenes in 2 days, so at least (delayed) legal action is approaching. If Zimmerman is indicted, will the black activists and community be appeased and the neo-Nazis go away, or will the tables turn with the neo-Nazis taking the offensive and claiming that Zimmerman is being wrongly persecuted?

The whole thing makes me nervous, especially having lived in LA during the Rodney King trial and riots. Fucked up shit with the worst of humanity on display.
