Wow, Duchess and Jim, you both have have some incredibly scenic digs. I love the city, but I could live somewhere like that in a heartbeat too. Gorgeous.

I still feel bad for the geese that waddle upon Big Jim's "shock fence", but as long as it only deters them rather than kills them, I understand the necessity.
ESAD - Canada Geese. Disgusting creatures... lovely to look at, but they make an enormous mess. An adult goose will shit 5-8 lbs a day. On the pond there I have two kinds... we have resident geese, that live there from March - October, and return every year to the same place to have goslings. Those gosling imprint on the pond, and return with their parents each year. And so on, and so on. This season I think there were about 40 resident geese... about 30 of them will make it back, and by the end of next season they'll be close to 50. Fuckers.

Then I have the migratory ones that begin to arrive in October, and they come by the hundreds most days until about early November. I can handle these guys, because they mostly stay in the water and fly off daily.

I'm trying an electric fence now to keep them at bay. We'll see how it goes. I'm hopeful they'll stay in the pastures across the pond once they get shocked a few times.

HotD, here's another shot for you... and I'll try to dig out a non-snow covered one.

Thanks! That's the view from my backyard... I just zoomed in on the house across the way because I though it was a great shot.

You're welcome anytime HotD. Here's one, but the battery died before I could get a better one. When I get home tonight I'll plug in and find something.

I love pergolas, what is the vine you have growing on yours?

I used to be totally into creating outdoor living areas, outdoor design in general. Your space is lovely, Jim.

Thanks very much, I'm proud of the spaces I've got. You are also welcome anytime!

I have a landscaper who I basically tell and sketch an idea out with, and he puts it together and does it. I'll show you a couple of angles in you're interested... this year I put a patio area down near the pond (not completely finished yet).

The vine sprouts orange trumpet flowers, so I just call it the trumpet vine. The hummingbirds love those flowers too... crazy.

Seriously, fantastic place.

Perfect for a backyard Mock soiree. We haven't had a bash in a while.

PARTY AT JIM'S PLACE!

Dancingparty 103 Drinking too much

P.s. I'm hitchin' a ride with FAHQTOO and Maggot. We might be a little late, but we'll bring munchies and huge grins.
Here's a few more angles as promised... the trumpet vine has now grown to completely cover the top of the pergola:

This is the unfinished patio area by the pond (small dock and slates to be put in yet):
